December 1, 200817 yr HarpoonPages invites you to participate in the 12th Annual Pooner Vote. Congratulations again to the 2007 Pooner Ralf Koelbach. To vote and view the past winners, visit http://www.harpoonpages.com/poonervote/pooner-Intro.php. !!!Please note that you can vote for anyone who hasn't previously won, even if they aren't listed as having been voted for yet this year!!! If you have any difficulties voting, send an e-mail to pooner@harpoonpages.com with your name, e-mail address, and your vote for Pooner and I will enter them manually. Please post this message on any forum/list/newsgroup where Harpoon players reside so that we can bring in as many votes and kudos as possible to those who sustain Harpoon. As always the real reward is for the potential Pooner to be talked up on the forums and mailing lists so heap on the praise here publicly!
December 1, 200817 yr Done deed Herman Hum for Pooner of the Year, for his hand holding of just about every "new" player that posts @ Matrix Jesse Spears for Lifetime award, and Tony said it all as to why (hehe, wasn't surprised to see you also chose him) Cheers !
December 1, 200817 yr Author Thank you to everyone playing and helping in the Harpoon effort this year. The HCE beta testers have done yeoman work this year and one of them just barely escaped me voting for him. My votes this year have to go the way of H3. My choice for 2008 Pooner is Freek Schepers for his continued scenario design efforts, not to mention playing a few MP games and generally staying above the nastiness while still providing feedback on the game. For liftetime Pooner my nod goes to Jesse Spears. While he hasn't been active for a while now his efforts turning H2 into H3 may have singlehandedly kept the Harpoon computer games alive, HC included! Yes he had much help but without him I doubt there would be a H3ANW nor HCE. I haven't forgotten that he worked on H2 itself either!
December 1, 200817 yr I'm nominating Freek Schepers for the Harpoonist's Lifetime award for his undying contribution to Harpoon3 scenario design, willingness to play others head-to-head, hosting his own ANW MP server for the benefit of other players, and bug finding talents. I nominate Jeronimo Chiecchio as the Harpoonist of the Year for providing the community with an invaluable via his ANW MP server. Without this server, there would be no MP play, whatsoever.
December 1, 200817 yr That time again ... My vote for the the 2008 Pooner goes to Freek Schepers, whom, as previously mentioned by Tony, has been able to keep producing new scenarios for H3/ANW, stay active in the multi-player games, and stay out of the bickering. (Which, I have to say, seems to have for the most part now thankfully departed from the scene). Way to go, Freek! My vote for the Lifetime Pooner award has to go to Tony Eischens. Yes, I know full well that he's stated that he would like to steer clear of the awards, but I'm willing to risk his disdain because its about time. Frankly, being the record keeper shouldn't in itself disqualify someone so truly qualified for the recognition. In fact, I believe its more proof of his dedication to this game than anything. Tony has worked tirelessly on the (often byzantine) code for HCE (and its predecessors); and for a very long time, maintained a server (at his own expense, time and effort) for the H3/ANW crowd to venture out onto the multi-player battlefield; and wrote the occasional scenario; and created his own database of uber cool, "what if" platforms (long live the Super Tomcat!); and made himself available to answer, address or otherwise tackle head on every question, query, quirk and nuance that we've ever had about how this game works. What more can I say, I think Tony deserves the Lifetime Pooner bar none. I think we're all mature enough to know that if he truly deserves it, the mere fact that he keeps the records shouldn't keep him from that recognition. (And, besides, we won't have to go through this tortuous process again next year!)
December 1, 200817 yr ... the Harpoonist's Lifetime award What the heck is a "Harpoonist"? Is that like a pianist?
December 1, 200817 yr ... the Harpoonist's Lifetime award What the heck is a "Harpoonist"? Is that like a pianist? Let's not digress into vulgar language and name calling on the board Mr Leyte.
December 1, 200817 yr Let's not digress into vulgar language and name calling on the board Mr Leyte. Oh, don't be such an abolitionist, Pete.

December 11, 200817 yr Well I guess I'll throw my vote in here. I've just come back into the community after a long break dealing with life etc etc, so I don't have the distinction of knowing the work that many have done over the last few years I've been gone. 2008 Pooner vote for me is :Freek Schepers for the reasons other's have stated. I've not met Freek yet but from what I've heard/read he deserves this. Now the other canidate I do know: TonyE for lifetime award. That's my vote! Sincerely Kelly D. Crawford
December 11, 200817 yr Hi, I vote for Russel Sharp as Pooner 2008 and for Jesse Spears as lifetime Pooner. Russel has done a lot to make the turnaround regarding ANW´s quality possible. He listens to the players and always displays an gentlemanlike attitude. As to Jesse Spears: Look what Tony has written; nothing to add. Best Regards, Ralf
December 28, 200817 yr Author While all of you have been watching football, I've been tracking down people who didn't finish the voting process. For all of those who haven't voted yet, now is the time, only 2.5 days left! http://www.harpoonpages.com/poonervote/pooner-Intro.php
January 2, 200917 yr Author Congratulations to the Lifetime Pooner inductee Jesse Spears! Congratulations to the 2008 Pooner Freek Schepers! Thank you to everyone who voted. Results (% of votes): 35% Freek Schepers 29% Russell Sharp 18% Herman Hum 11% AoA
January 2, 200917 yr Author I must take this moment to give a heartfelt thanks to all of you who voted for me despite the rules and pleas not allowing you to vote for me. The point of the Pooner awards isn't to have a vintage graphic with your name in Kunstler Script font. The point is to thank those Harpoon players who go the extra mile and I feel truly thanked.
