Another topic, increase the range of the A-7 radar APQ-126/148, from the unusable 10 n.m. to a more realistic 80 n.m. (but I see now in High Tide is listed with a 150 nm. range).

I know our idea of use of the paper rules data, but I read this data clearly some days ago in :

http://www.tpub.com/content/MIL-SPEC/MIL-F...81898A00025.htm

in 3.4.2.8.3 we can read: "Range coverage: range scales of 5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 sea miles shall be selectable by the pilot"

mmmm, a very simple and almost indetectable pirate launch, for pirate scenarios based in the operative procedures of the pirates, the DB has a mother ship (the entry 2450 "Pirate"), but I think we need the autonomous, detached, previously released for the mother ship, pirate launch, i.e. for scenarios based in time of presence of pirate ships and launch in determined sea zones, undetected and potentially hostile. I've read in the paper today also about dhows with occult engines, capables of 25 knots.

Hehe, I was actually thinking of this very issue this morning. I am dissatisfied with the current arrangement, having the pirate mothership with its launches modeled as missiles. Until the code can accommodate the ability to have larger ships disgorge smaller vessels and vehicles, I think we will have to model these platforms independently. So I'll likely model the pirate launch as its own ship.

maybe consider adding the SM-6?

Still too early, I think.

and an Indian Akula?

As mentioned in your link, it was the new Akula II class SSN Nerpa, which suffered the recent fatal accident, that was supposed to be the sub leased by India. I think I'll wait until the dust clears and that lease agreement firms up before I add an Indian version of the submarine. Shouldn't take too long.

also is the Astra currently in the db?

I've been waiting for better H4 type data on the LCA Tejas aircraft before adding the Astra missile.

Found an error in the Official DB:

MH-60R has two identical ASW loadouts. I'm guessing you added it twice by mistake.

Also, is it correct that most large helos (IE Mi-24) can't land on the Viraat?

Probably lacks the 'carrier capable' flag.

Dear sirs,

Request the additional of several important Iranian, North Korean and PRC platforms to the database.

PRC: Request addition of the YJ-62/C-602. Below are comments from a Pakistani site which state they were originally from JDW:

"China's People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has been upgrading its coastal defence units with a new version of the YJ-62 long-range anti-ship missile called the YJ-62C, Asian military officials revealed to Jane's at the beginning of June.

First unveiled in 2005, the YJ-62 is the PLAN's counterpart to the C-602 export version, which has an advertised range of 280 km. The range of the YJ-62 is said to be considerably longer than that of the C-602.

This cruise missile bears a strong resemblance to the US BGM-109 Tomahawk land-attack cruise missile (LACM): development of the YJ-62 is believed to have benefited from Tomahawk parts captured in Afghanistan and Iraq and from China's acquisition of Russian Kh-55 LACMs via Ukraine.

The same officials noted that the PLAN has deployed about 120 new YJ-62C anti-ship missiles at bases in Fujian province, which is opposite Taiwan. Previously, PLAN shore defence anti-ship missile units were armed with versions of the 85 km-range HY-1 and 95 km-range HY-2 'Silkworm', derived from Soviet P-15 (SS-N-2A 'Styx') ""missiles transferred to China in the late 1950s."

Below are specifics on coastal defense TEL configuration for YJ-62/C-602

Correction: Luyang II DDG-171 is equipped with 8 X YJ-62/C-602 vice C-802/C-803

Grackle, thanks for your requests. I will take a look at all of your suggestions. Please note in the interim that the Iranian Ghadir submarine does already appear in the HCDB.

Dear CV32,

Thanks for the consideration, and I apologize for not catching that Ghadir was already in the database (which I surely knew at one point - Alzhiemer's?). My interest in Iranian asymmetric maritime capabilities was sparked when I purchased the desktop publishing wargame "Zolfaqar's Blow (ZB). " I haven't quite made the map and counters usable for playing yet or figured out the rules. <_< However, I did note that the concept behind ZB would make very interesting Harpoon scenarios. Many of the new IRCG units in ZB are not in the HCDB, so I thought I would request them (and a few other cats and dogs ). Understand that there may not be enough hard data to support the inclusion of some of the requested platforms.

Just want to say that I enjoy this twenty year old game more than many games just out of the wrapper - the hard work of your team keeps this game fresh and evolving.

Best,

Grackle

Any chance to add the new America LHA-6 class?

Consider it done. A new iteration of the HCDB should be released soon. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

I think we need a civilian generic fast superferry (see Harpoon Naval Review 2009), as new MERCHANT, similar to HSV-X1 Joint Venture, HSV-2 Swift, TSV-1X Spearhead or HMAS Jervis Bay.

As example, the spanish owned superferrys Alboran, Milenium, Milenium Dos, builded after 1999. 96-98 meters long, 42 knots (loaded, I suppose), 6.346 tons gross tonnage, I suppose near 940tons standard, as HSV-2 Swift (another "98 meters"), and 14 damage points (- 50% for merchant ship, -15% for aluminium construction).

Some data and ideas:
