Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2

Hi Folks,

Not sure if it's worth modifying, but both the MH-60S and the MH-60R can carry Hellfires and Penguins, according to the LockMart Program Office (2009 Paris Air Show Deck). This is because they are both equipped with the same sensor set (IR/FLIR) in addition to the APS-147, and have common stores carry thanks to the ESSS (stub wings). The only reason I'm suggesting this is because right now, you need to make a choice between the Sierra (which can carry boarding teams) and the Romeo which as the ASW/ASuW. In most OOW scenarios, it's nice to have both options in the same platform.

Also, I'm not sure if it's worth removing, only to add it later on, but NLOS is dead on the LCS. The MR SSM bid is underway, with LockMart, Grumman and MBDA the main players but no selection yet. Is it worth configuring three separate ASuW loadouts I wonder to cover the possibilities?

Regards,

-Armando

  • Enrique, if you would be so kind, can you post a list of the carriers where you think capacity needs to be adjusted, and some authority for the requested change. (And, as you know, HCCW has its own th

I think MH-60S is basicallly a transpor/assault/VERTREP/CSAR/MCM variant, to replace CH-46 Sea Knight.

And it has not radar.

Photographic evidence:

Looking for data with a bad internet conecction and a very reflective screen (al fresco with gin-tonic) I find this confuse table and comments:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unite...ombat_Squadrons

http://www.sikorsky.com/StaticFiles/Sikors...WK_Brochure.pdf (not mention of radar neither missiles, some photos confusing, with MH-60S and MH-60R).

From my own tables, without referenced sources, but based in some historical carrier complements (sources: various magazines):

Previous complement of CVN HS- Squadrons:

6xSH-60F+2xHH-60H

Also, from some years ago, the dotation of the present and future HSM- Squadrons, in dotation for the CVN and her escort ships (sources: also historical carrier wings published in various magazines:

11xMH-60R+8xMH-60S (late I will constate it at home).

I will look at it. Hopefully we can share loadouts.

Been thinking about this one since the cancellation of NLOS, and I think I will keep the present configuration in place until we know more about the replacement.

Now for a little time at home, with a good screen.

Yes, in the brochure http://www.sikorsky.com/StaticFiles/Sikors...WK_Brochure.pdf

- I see provision for Hellfires and photos, but no mention to Penguins.

- And clearly, MH-60S has not radar.

Also, I've confirmed in my own notes:

HSM- Squadrons complement, in dotation for the CVN and her escort ships (12 helos in the CVN, rest mostly on escorts):

11xMH-60R+

8xMH-60S

Okay - so here's the 2009 Paris Air Show Deck I mentioned earlier (sucks when my office blocks Matrixgames and Harpgamer - damn proxy firewalls) - http://www.lockheedmartin.com/paris/MH-60RS-PAS09.pdf

Broncepulido called it - the Sierra has no APS-147. It does have the same AAS-44 FLIR ball on the front so it can fire Hellfires from the ESSS, as well as all the same countermeasures systems as the Romeo.

Given the way the economy is going, I think the safe option is not to add any new platform until it enters production <_<

More about MH-60R/S, as conclusion for proposed modifications on the DB (original post, redacted some hours ago, lost in a PC reboot !) based on http://www.lockheedmartin.com/paris/MH-60RS-PAS09.pdf and other sources):

- Radar APS-147 only on MH-60R, no radar in MH-60S.

- ESM (ALQ-210) only on MH-60R (the big square boxes both sides of the nose and rear fuselage of MH-60R)(Blip enhance also probably only on MH-60R).

- But RWR (APR-39) presente in both variants.

- ALE-47 chaff/flare and ALQ-144 DIRCM present in both variants.

- MAD deleted in MH-60R (No mention of MAD in the brochure, and http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/sys...raft/sh-60r.htm "The MAD gear will be deleted". Also, MAD was deleted in the definitive P-8 Poseidon design, because SAM-equipped submarines determinates the use of Stand-Off ASW weapons, as Longshot HAAWC)(MH-60S neither, it not have ASW tasks).

- 25 sonobuoys only in MH-60R (page 28).

- Hellfire missile in both variants (probably not Penguins, not mentionated in the brochure).

- 4xASW torpedoes in MH-60R? (page 16)

Given the way the economy is going, I think the safe option is not to add any new platform until it enters production <_<

Not much fun in that, so it is not the design philosophy of the HCDB.

Hi Folks,

Per the original thread over at MG: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/m.asp?m=...page=1&key=

I'd like to request a generic damaged ship representation. Something that at the most would craw around 10-12 kts max, so creep would be bare steerageway 1-2 kts, and cruise would be 7-8 kts. Damage to hull, sensors is fine. Let's just assume it's a civvie unarmed ship needing escort. If possible - can two versions be built - one with a large RCS and one with a small RCS?

Other suggestions or improvements to this representation welcome.

Thanks!

Speed restrictions are easy.

However, we cannot simulate structural damage except by artificially lowering the damage point (DP) values relative to the ship's overall displacement.

It is even more difficult to simulate damaged sensors. In terms of the PE, there are either present or not present. I could potentially create a generic surface search radar with a reduced range and detection capability, but I am not sure of the value of doing so.

I would like to hear from other scenario authors on the utility of this DB request.

I think the entry 2108 Fishing Vessel is similar, enough for scenario figuration.

Working on the Israel-Iran scenario, I think we need a fixed or mobile generic ESM installation, similar to that depicted in the WWII database (representing in the WWII period the HF/DF Huff Duff stations), but now representing passive detection systems (And also other generic ELINT/SIGINT ground installations), as the Ukranian Kolchuga and others:

I've just uploaded a new version of the DB, including entries for both a damaged merchant ship and an ELINT station.

Also in there is an entry for the Avenger version of the Predator/Reaper, but take note that it is very provisional and will probably need to be seriously overhauled in due course.
