The colour images are of Modern Naval Combat, by David Miller and Chris Miller, Salamander Books 1986, with a lot of guesses and almost on the closing stages of the Cold War, but also one of the hard years (Soviet war in Afghanistan, Libyan strikes, Challenger disaster, launching of the Mir space station, Chernobyl ...) . September 26, 201114 yr The colour images are of Modern Naval Combat, by David Miller and Chris Miller, Salamander Books 1986, Right you are, I picked up a copy 3-4 years back and will surely wear the pages ragged! I really like the Naval Technology section from page 10 to 83 as it explains so many of the mechanisms of warfare at a very Harpoon level, not super deep but yet still more than the surface glance most books offer. Sonar is described very well including the various states and depths of 'layers' across different bodies of water. I highly recommend a copy of the book to anyone who isn't super hard-core.
