  1. BBC News story, with video Well, I have to say, it looks like you'd imagine a Russian stealth fighter to be. Like a stretched F-35.
  2. A lot of the high-tech stuff is being cut back in favour of a populist helicopter procurement strategy.
  3. Not yet, no. But I can give you a hint of what there will be available... Varyag (yep, that one) 2 Kirovs A Forrestal An Arleigh Burke Novorossiysk (the third ship in the Kiev class)
  4. For the game currently underway? Or the bigger one later? The game currently underway.
  5. I'm looking for reserves or people willing to double up.
  6. There's Bill Jennings' "The War in 2012", although its more an operational level game with Harpoon as its base.
  7. Great stuff!
  8. Trondheim now has a player.
  9. Happy 2010 everyone!
  10. Not at the moment. Might have been fixed.
  11. It's yours. Welcome to the game. We only have one more vacancy.
  12. OK, which one do you want? Emden or Trondheim? Have you registered on the site yet?
  13. Definitely! We still need two more NATO players.
  14. We only have two more spaces!
  15. All the Soviet ships are now taken, depending on a PM response.
  16. Pretty well. Some players still need to declare their ship preferences, though.
  17. Nice explanation, VCDH.
  18. Could be any of the above. Typically your platform (say, a ship) is already placed on a map and you control it from there. In larger scale games, you might be in control of a group of ships (like a surface action group) or even a whole theater full of ships and submarines. In smaller scale games, it would probably be an individual ship. Either way, what your fellow team mates do will definitely impact on your success (or lack thereof). Depends on the emission control (EMCON) measures you and your team mates have in place. In smaller scale games, I would say it is more likely that you will need to depend on limited radio or satcom contact, just running your navigation radar or operating with all radars emitting, etc. OK, you're in command of one particular ship for the first scenario. You'll be working together with others, with an overall commander on one ship, with a team plan that will probably go out of the porthole on first contact.
  19. Game is up. You'll need to register on Myth-Weavers, BTW.
  20. Basically, you can add text to a post that only a certain user can see (plus the GM and Moderators). It's using their BB code, which also allows for dice rolls.
  21. Especially Myth-Weavers, where you can put private text in posts.
  22. I'd be glad to have you.
  23. I won't be doing this for a few months, but I'm planning to do a Harpoon 4 game over at Myth-Weavers. The scenario I intend to do- after a quick one from "High Tide"- will be an epic recreation of the assault on the Varyag and Novorossiysk groups from Barrett Tillman's The Sixth Battle. Anyone interested?
