File Name: Pacific War 1 File Submitter: JSF File Submitted: 27 Nov 2012 File Category: Scenarios Pacific War 1: Ignition Japan vs China Date: August 14th, 2013 Long lasting tensions tend to explode some day. The struggle regarding the Senkaku (as the Japanese name them) or Diaoyutai (the Chinese name) Islands is one of those latent conflicts. It' s not about those little rocks, it's about the ressources around them. Ignition is the first scenario of a new Battleset which displays an accelating conflict, starting around those small islands. This a sharp tactical duel, be careful using time compression! 2. I was playing around with some ideas and I was hoping for some feedback. First, am I correct that ANW allows multi-player scenarios? Are there any servers up right now? Second, it occurs to me that multi-player scenarios will often be different than regular scenarios (or, at least, there are some things that have to be taken into consideration for a scenario to really work as a multi-player scenario)... * Balance is essential...either the sides have to be pretty equal in firepower OR one side has to have some kind of handicap to balance things out (i.e., the stronger side can only lose a certain number of planes or it will fail to meet its victory conditions)…

The 20th NEW Harpoon scenario of the year! "Eyes and Claws (Act II)" This is the seventh scenario of the PaSon battleset; the "pro version" of Eyes and Claws, the sixth scenario of the PaSon battleset. While the PaSon scenarios are designed for beginners, this one should be a match for experienced Harpoon players, too. Like the whole PaSon battleset, this scenario also assumes that the Soviet Union never collapsed and the Cold War went hot. There is a strong Red beachhead in Norway which has to be eliminated with limited resources. The Harriers are dedicated to Roberto Yeager. Use them wisely Author: Ralf Koelbach and Herman Hum H…

"Somali Pirates" Author: Freek Schepers Game Engine: ANW 3.9.3 Database: PDB My first impression: Looks like an usual scenario. The thematic issue is up to date. I´m curious how this will work out for Nato side. November, 1st, 2008, 12:00 - On we go! Ok, mission is to guard the Norway, Kimi and Austrain Trader. Thus I have to find them and vector my vessels in their directions. 1. 12:02 Found the three HVUs and plotted intercept courses for my ships. Oh Lord - so many ships on the ocean and so few guardians! 2. 12:50 Freek is really tough with the player. Just detected that he has unloaded the Harpoons from Nato´s ships 3. 15:20 Waiting…

  6. AAR: Breaking the Shackles - India [spoiler Alert] By Quinton van Zyl Prime Minister Gandhi was quite explicit in her orders. Ensure that Sri Lanka remained under the hegemony of Mother India. Intelligence on enemy dispositions was vague. The Indian Ocean is a BIG place, after all. The only nugget of useful data was that American forces had left Diego Garcia and the Strait of Malacca. With only had these general locations to work from, the reconnaissance assets were despatched; Canberra from Jamnagar, Antonov-12s from Calcutta, and Dakotas from Port Blair. It was still the middle of the night, but I was gambling on the fact that although my cameras would b…

AAR „Naval Infantry“ Scenario designed by Herman Hum Based on an original Harpoon Classic HDS-II-scenario Database: Players DB 7.4.7 A. Foreword: Herman rebuilds a lot of HC scens, especially those of the HC HDS-II-Battleset, with AGSIs permission. “Naval Infantry” belongs to the HDS-II-GIUK-Battleset, Herman´s favourite. In Norway Nato is down to two squadrons of Falcons and one of F-5s. Four Orions are stationed at Kevlavik and the main force are three diesel subs. This is what ought to do the job: to stop an full scale CIS amphibious landing at Bodo in the tracks. Therefore I have to sink three amphibious landing ships. B. My experience…

When it first came out back in 1996 or so, it was unplayable on the machines of that time. Fortunately, modern hardware makes playing even very large scenarios possible. “Assault on Zion,” from the HUD3 GC1 battleset AAR by Mark Gellis Taking the Israeli side…looking for PLO boats…must sink them before they do bad things… This scenario was prepared for the HUD-4 (v1.1 b10) simply by opening it in the scenario editor and rebuilding all platforms; the revised scenario was then saved. Scenario seems to load properly. I made a point of keeping an eye out for database errors. In this scenario, I saw no problems with weapons firing, ships not having any fuel, or any other database errors. I may have missed something, but nothing that was vital to the scenario. I did notice in the rebuilt scenario in the scenario editor that…

  13. A really nice setup. The size of the AO stretches the player to cover many bases with very limited resources. Excellent. I started by moving FFs Torquay and Lynx into positions near Akrotiri to add their limited AAA support to the base in the event of air attack from Syria. The Malta MCM squadron also set sail to rendezvous with the inbound Malta Convoy. They were limited in their combat abilities, but some ASW detection gear is better than none at all. SS Orpheus and SSN Tinosa were ordered to set up positions in order to blockade the Aegean Sea. I wanted to keep whatever surface assets that might be there bottled up tightly. Malta launched her long-range r…

AAR: Indian Expansion [spoiler Alert] A Harpoon 3 scenario By Paul Bridge Defence Minister Singh had no experience in military matters. He had been appointed for his connections and his political shrewdness. He saw his opportunity to rise further in the Indian government with his latest scheme. He sold the cabinet on his vision for India to rise above her former masters and prove to the world that the Indian Ocean was for the Indians. His plan called for their former imperialists to be lulled into a false sense of security at the negotiating table while the real voice of negotiation would be spoken by the air force and the navy. He proposed a surprise at…

The 63rd NEW Harpoon scenario of the year! Svalbard Oil Battleset The discovery of the third largest oil and gas reserves on the planet near the Svalbard Islands led to a dispute with Russia, who has mining rights and maintains settlements on Spitsbergen, claiming that the islands belong to the chain of islands of Franz Josef Land. Svalbard Oil 1: The Blockade In a surprise move Russia landed troops in Longyearbyen ten days ago and occupied some of the major oil platforms. Norway filed a protest with the UN and requested formal NATO assistance, which immediately was granted. NATO is now assembling forces to break the blockade around the Sval…

Again, I'm looking for a reality check on some scenario ideas... Here's what I imagine. What if a nation decided, for some reason, to engage in full scale poaching? It sends a fishing convoy--fishing boats and patrol boats or even warships as escorts--into the EEZ of some other country (presumably one the aggressor believes it can treat this way) and proceeds to do a serious amount of fishing. This might be a disputed territory or it might simply be an act of aggression by a nation that thinks it can get away with it. (And, because of food shortages, collapsing fish populations due to overfishing, etc., it may believe it has to get away with it.) I suppose the…

AAR: Indian [spoiler Alert] A Harpoon 3 scenario By Freek Schepers As I started the scenario, I had a bit of trouble locating all of the transports I was supposed to have. I eventually found the thirteenth as part of one of the FFG TF east of the base. Here's what I did, I sent ten ships NW at flank to get the hell out of Dodge before the hell I figured was gonna break loose did so. They were to link up with the CG/DDG TF off the Horn of Africa. That part of my plan went off without a hitch. The two remaining transports were sent at flank to the ENE to link up …

AAR MP: Matrix Siege -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This morning I played Matrix Siege against Rene Haar. Matrix Siege is an old Harpoon Classic scene converted to ANW/PlayersDB by Herman Hum. It covers an exercise in the Kattegat between two US warships and about 15 European light frigates and fast attack craft. Rene chose to play Europe and I played the US. I launched my Cobra gunship to start recon took both ships out of the formation and moved them independently south at speeds I hoped would make them mistaken for neutrals. Rene switched on the radars on his Norwegian patrol boats and although …
