When I downloaded and installed HCCE 2005.b09c, I noticed that the installer didn't create a Start Menu shortcut to the Platform Editor. For any users who also noticed this problem, I created a shortcut pointing to the file pfBuild2002.mdb, and it seems to work fine. I hope this helps anyone who has noticed this problem. Tom

  5. JS Taigei (SS-513) is the first boat of the Taigei-class attack submarine of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. The submarine was ordered from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 2017 and laid down on 16 March 2018 at Kobe, Japan. Taigei was launched on 14 October 2020 and commissioned on 9 March 2022. The hull design of the Taigei class is said to not differ too much from the operational Sōryū class but will be 100 tons heavier than its predecessor. However, the Taigei-class submarines will be more advanced as they are equipped with newer equipment such as sonar systems, snorkel power generation system. The Taigei class will use lithium-ion batteries much like JS Ōryū an…

  6. I'm back after a long hiatus (real life work takes up too much time but I gotta eat) - anyways - I managed to get HCE working in a VM sandbox. I'm trying to build some test scenarios to get back into the groove - looking for suggestions on how I can create/substitute some China Marine Surveillance Vessels. (link below) My practice builds will eventually continue my South China Sea/Sulawesi Sea Triangle series that I had small success with a few years back. http://www.sinodefence.com/navy/marine-surveillance/ship.asp Thoughts? Recommendations? If it's in the latest HCDB build/other database I do apologize, I haven't swapped out the Commonres.db yet, but I am on b…

  8. In 2015 the Japanese defense budget allocated funds to study the construction of a new "compact-type hull destroyer with additional multi-functional capabilities" as well as a new radar system for the destroyer. In the same year Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) unveiled the frigate's first concept model (30FF) which they had been developing with their own funds. The new ship is set to replace the Asagiri-class destroyers and Abukuma-class destroyer escorts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mogami-class_frigate View full record

  9. The KSS-III submarine, also classified as the Dosan Ahn Changho-class submarines - is a series of diesel-electric attack submarines currently being built for the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN), jointly by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI). The KSS-III is the final phase of the Korean Attack Submarine program, a three-phased program to build 27 attack submarines for the ROKN, between 1994–2029. The KSS-III initiative consists of the development of nine diesel-electric attack submarines, capable of firing submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBM), to be built in three batches. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KSS…

    Based upon interfacing the options in HNR2003 into HCCE components, I believe I have come up with a "common" HCCE LCS. Add 1 AQS-22 sonar and 40 capacity sonarbuoys. F (12)1 Mk48 VLS with 12 cells of ESSM. F (4)2 Mk141 RGM-84C Harpoon – 4 Harpoon A ®1 Mk15 Phalanx Block 1B P/S (1)2 12.7mm HMG A (3)2 Mk32 w/ 3 Mk46 or Mk54 torpedoes, Helo deck with 1 MH-60R and 1 RQ-8.

  12. Hi guys, Just read some interesting tidbits about Chile's modernization of its Type 23 frigates. A NIPmail piece (August 2011) shows that in mid-2011 they contracted with BAE Systems for an update to the Tracker Type 911 surveillance radar and Thales Underwater Systems for the addition of their 2087 towed-array sonar. The radar tweak is nothing really significant, but from an ASW standpoint, the frigates didn't previously have a towed array. This would give them quite a capability update and expand their capability. This might be benefitial, from a scenario design perspective.
