Easing back into Harpoon and want to set up some simple scenarios to experiment with the variious weapon systems. I'm using Clancey's RSR as a template for setting up Iceland as a Soviet base against which to conduce air attacks, which leads to a couple of questions: 1) As I see it the original four battlesets are the only ones that that include the Soviet Union, right? 2) The only way to adjust the weapon systems present at a base are via the Platform Editor, right? For example, as per RSR, I would like to add 4x SAM6 launchers, so I would have to go to the Platform Editor to do this - however, if I remember correctly that would not be possible for the orginal …

I apologize if this is not the proper place to post it but...... Has anyone done a scenario where the Soviets have overrun Europe much likes the Germans did and the RAF/NATO is faced with having to defend their bases and industry against Soviet bombers? And based in the EC2003 GIUK battleset/database. I was thinking something along the lines of all the Soviet heavy bombers coming out of Norway and then Frogfoots and such out of France supported by Flankers, etc. and then on the English side NATO Tornados, Eurofighters, F-15's, F-16's, E-3's, etc. And maybe some cross channel Special Forces stuff (Pave Low's, MC-130's, SEALS from subs, etc.) Victory condit…

Beta Scenario of my first attempt at an HCE scenario. This one uses the new HCDA database for the Americas. Please be kind if I made obvious mistakes and I look forward to feedback! File Name: liteson.zip File Submitter: Armando J. Heredia (Juramentado) File Submitted: 13-MAR-2009 File Category: Americas Scenario Author: Armando J. Heredia Battleset: This one uses .SCZ with the Americas HCDA-080924 database (DB file included in Zip) Scenario Background: In organizational parlance, "Keep The Lights On" means to stay in business, especially under tough or trying circumstances. Given the world's current troubles, this closely describes the d…

The 57th new scenario of the year has just been released! Black Valour - EC2003 MEDC Battleset A few years in the future... Tensions between Turkey and its neighbors in the Black Sea region have increased during recent years. The causes have ranged from trade issues to environmental concerns. Romania has been among the most vocal in its protests against Turkey, going so far as to threaten the use of force if Turkey continues to interfere with its international agenda. The situation has been made more serious because Ukraine has declared itself a guardian of the slavic Black Sea nations and has made it clear that Turkish aggression against any of these na…

A growing dispute between Indonesia and Papua-New Guinea about rights to a newly discovered uranium deposit on their mutual border has led to the intervention of China and Australia on opposite sides. China, eager to gain access to the uranium, has sent a sizeable force into the region to support the Indonesian claim. Indonesia has likewise shifted considerable military assets eastward into the disputed area. Overflights of Papua-New Guinea airspace by unknown (and presumably Chinese) aircraft have already been reported. Meanwhile, Australia is moving to support its old colony, and New Zealand is pledging assistance. Grab it at the HC Scen/AAR page.

Apparently a good tool for scenario design: https://chuckhillscgblog.net/2023/12/17/tracking-naval-forces-red-sea-gulf-of-aden-gulf-of-oman-and-persian-gulf/?fbclid=IwAR0yrBOaQfrux-45q2EYhbcfChVb3k5NUDhmzzA-m9kkQIcayCeW0s7QQiA Edit: in fact here, is work of this X user, schizointel:

I've been kicking these ideas around since about 2016. I have been adding details as world events inspire my creativity. Today made me think it was time to do something. Unfortunately my real life is too chaotic to devote the necessary time to creating these scenarios. So I am offering them to anyone who wants. Here are the first four ideas for scenarios. Can anyone help? Maybe just by telling me if these ideas are workable. Thanks in Advance p.s. please forgive my (often) incoherent note style Brexit: The War of English Secession A campaign battle-set with 16 scenarios to be played in sequential order. Incidents and Acc…

Ok, so time to test some modern UK forces post cuts. So we have no Harriers. We have the Tornado's still however, which are fairly formidible. We have, I think 2 Carriers? or none, some are to be scrapped but we have some underway. We will be sharing in some capacity with the French, maybe then the carriers could contain some Rafaels? however I tried this in the Scen ed, they didnt fit on HMS Invincible Our likely/simulated/semi-ficticious/made up enemy shall be......... NORTH KOREA. Fighting MiG 21's.... but due to the fact they are a piece of shit rather old, any ideas on Russian/International fighters they could have? Apparently they have some M…

Are there more detailed instructions somewhere on the web on using the scenario editor than the ones that come with CE? I'm frustrated with the continuous and variable attack settings. I'm trying to launch an attack against an airfield every 15 minutes starting 20 minutes into the game. I believe I entered all input info correctly but don't get an attack every 15 minutes. I have also noticed that once aircraft have released long-range weapons they do not return to base but continue on towards their target become easy targets themselves.

Friends, Again, I'm brainstorming for scenarios. Here's the basic idea I'd like your input on... Nation A has either collapsed or slowly sunk into full scale civil war, with Side X fighting Side Y. Nation/Coalition B has chosen to openly support Side X and/or believes Side Y is responsible for terrorism, crimes against humanity, etc. Nation/Coalition C objects! They might try to intercept outside forces from attacking Side Y. (This actually gives us three different kinds of scenarios...Stage 1) A/X vs. A/Y, perhaps with B offering very limited support/intelligence, Stage 2) A/X and B vs. A/Y and Stage 3) A/X and B vs. A/Y and C. And, of course, Bl…

I was glad to see that the new HCDB includes more Coast Guard ships (and, in general, we've seen a lot of patrol boats added to the HCDB). But now I'm wondering how to use them in scenarios. They are, of course, for guarding the coast. So you send them after naughty fishing boats who violate our fisheries (although unless they have escorts, this isn't much of a challenge). Or you stop smugglers of one kind or another. By the way, I figured out one way to do a "rescue" mission. You can use a neutral Green vessel, without a programmed course, to represent the vessel that you have to save. You won't know where it is at first so you actually have to search for…

I'm working on some ideas for realistic Cold War scenarios involving Soviets, and I'm trying to figure out something. Under what circumstances would you have the Soviet Navy shooting at people, possibly even NATO ships, c. 1985, where things do not rapidly turn into a global exchange of nuclear weapons? Some ideas... 1. Spies on the run. Submarines on both sides probably sneaked in close to enemy shores all the time to gather intelligence, etc. I'm guessing that if those submarines had been forced to surface, perhaps even fired on, there would have been a lot of grumbling from the country that sent them and maybe a tit-for-tat response like sending an ambass…

Relations between the Ukraine and Russia have degraded into a shooting war after a prolonged dispute over gas supplies. Elements of the US-Eastern European Task Force (EETAF), established at a forward location in Romania, are being called into action to support and defend the West friendly government in Ukraine. Hello all. I work (worked) in the performing arts here in Colorado, so I now have lots of free time. I'll have time to do a scenario or two if you would like. I'm looking for suggestions, so let me know if there's one you have always wanted and I'll put one together for you.

The 2nd new scenario of the year! Not even one week into the new year and Mark Gellis has published a second scenario for the Harpoon community to enjoy. At this rate, I shudder to think how many great scenarios he will produce in the upcoming year. Thanks for sharing another game with us. Crete Convoy - EC2003 MEDC Battleset It is 1990 and the world is at war. America and its allies are gradually preparing to liberate Iran from the Soviet Union, which invaded that country earlier this year. Several allies of the Soviet Union have declared their support for the Soviet invasion. Blue Orders: Convoy AAS (Flag Robison) should proceed to the waters o…

Building on Mark Gellis' free idea giveaway thread, how about the following ... A scenario author builds a storyline and Red OOB. Potential players choose the player controlled Blue OOB and its disposition/posture from a list of available options. Scenario author completes the scenario based on their choices. Players play out the scenario, either for pure enjoyment or a friendly competition of sorts. Thoughts?
