File Name: Iron Wolf File Submitter: CV32 File Submitted: 26 Jan 2008 File Category: GIUK Iron Wolf A Harpoon Commander's Edition scenario for the EC2003 GIUK Gap battleset. This scenario is designed for play by the BLUE side. The three small Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are no strangers to a hard life of aggression, occupation, and oppression. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, a determined populace grabbed the opportunity for independence once again. But history had taught them a lesson: that their long term survival was dependent upon becoming part of an international alliance. In Spring 2004 they became full members of NATO. Witho…

File Name: Foxes in the Henhouse File Submitter: CV32 File Submitted: 26 Jan 2008 File Updated: 26 Jan 2008 File Category: WestPac Foxes in the Hen House A Harpoon Commander's Edition scenario for the Westpac battleset. This scenario is designed for play by the BLUE side. The Soviet HENS submarines - the Hotel class SSBNs, the Echo class SSGNs and the November class SSNs - that began deploying in the early 1960s introduced a major technological breakthrough that gave them a dramatic acoustic advantage over the US Navy's Skipjacks and Skates. The new concept was rafting - where a submarine's engineering plant was placed on a flexible mount or raft within th…

I have been unable to change a group's speed in the Scenario Editor. I've tried different delta's (1 sec, 1 hour, 1 hour before the time limit in case the timing is in terms of time left in the scenario) without any success. I realize I must be doing something wrong but ? Would someone suggest how I can change a group's speed at the beginning of the game (e.g., group ADU has a max speed setting in the Battleset Scenario I am hoping tp modify - I would like it to be at creep speed as soon as possible to the opening of the game). Thank you.

I'm posting a scenario I've been working on called "Rorke's Drift". It was an originally an EC2000 scenario I had downloaded from the defunct Harpoon Scenario Warehouse and I though I could do a quick-and-dirty conversion to the EC2003 battleset by just changing the suffix. Wrong! I went and recreated the whole thing from scratch, but I need help. 1) Play it and see if it works. 2) Suggestions to make it better. 3) Someone who knows the inner workings of the Scenario really well to fill me in on how the AI controls attacks. Thanks, Larry Gertner wombat1417@att.net

Played this one through this afternoon/night. US force had to withstand a massive airstrikes from airbases on the Indian mainland early on, which are off limits to counter attack. Once the Bears and Backfires are dealt with there is low to medium air activity from then on until you come into contact with the Indian SAG. Then Su-33 from the carrier air wing keep you on your toes. The SAG was bigger than anticipated, with gear you can expect from an enormous Indian naval build-up. Think wish-list. Indian subs are active and even with me looking for them, I lost one ship for each sub, a Kilo and a Victor III. Indian SAG at that point took off at max spee…

Are there more detailed instructions somewhere on the web on using the scenario editor than the ones that come with CE? I'm frustrated with the continuous and variable attack settings. I'm trying to launch an attack against an airfield every 15 minutes starting 20 minutes into the game. I believe I entered all input info correctly but don't get an attack every 15 minutes. I have also noticed that once aircraft have released long-range weapons they do not return to base but continue on towards their target become easy targets themselves.

Maybe it's simple, in fact probably! I downloaded the back yard part two - found 3 files zipped. Was unsure where to put these. I looked for files of the same type already in my HCE folders but did not see any. So - where do I drop the 3 files once they are unzipped?

AAR: The Backyard - Part Two: Final Shootout [spoiler Alert] A Harpoon Classic Commander’s Edition scenario by Ralf Koelbach The Cold War finally went hot and furious battles arose all around the world. This Westpac scenario deals with a final US multi-carrier attack supported by Japanese forces in the Western Pacific. The US forces have neutralized all but one Soviet bases in the theatre. Now it is time to finish the job. But beware: The Soviets have reinforced their last bastion to the utmost. CAG Mills had fought a pretty good war up until now. His air group had helped demolish three of the four Russian Pacific bases with relatively fe…

File Name: Dawn Patrol File Submitter: divefreak File Submitted: 3 Dec 2007 File Updated: 3 Dec 2007 File Category: GIUK 1.1 Background: The coast of Norway is made up of fjords and islands with high, rocky coasts. This is a perfect place for small surface craft to operate because the rock walls make them hard to spot on radar, and the short detection ranges make their smaller SSMs more useful than in open ocean. Additionally, there are so many fjords and other places to hide such that no navy can afford enough large craft to do the job. 1.2 Blue Orders: You are the commander of two squadrons of Norwegian warships. Coastal spotters have reported some la…

I thought I would post a few ‘teasers’ for upcoming scenarios of mine that will soon be available for download. Foxes in the Hen House (for Westpac) A pair of US Navy Skipjack class attack submarines have been directed to intercept three Soviet subs - a Hotel II SSBN, an Echo I SSGN and a November SSN - in the Strait of Tartary, before the Soviet boats can deploy to their patrol zones in the Western Pacific. Oubliette (for Westpac) With the war in Central Europe bogging down and the Soviets showing increasing signs of desperation, the Ohio class SSBN USS Tennessee (SSBN-734) has been given orders to proceed to a deterrent patrol station in the Sea of Okhot…

I'm toying around in the 1.0 Vengeance found in the Mediterranean Battleset. I am maneuvering the CVBG back out of the Adriatic Sea and have both a CAP and an AEW + CAP up. The AEW aircraft detected a DDG Suffren in the Libyan port of Tubruk, which I investigate, outside of game, to find out it is a French built AAW destroyer. I believe that the French have had an on again off again love affair with Libya - is this ship considered hostile Libyan Navy, hostile French Navy, or friendly French Navy? Enjoying HCE...again.

AAR: Operation: Island Wind [spoiler Alert] A Harpoon Classic scenario By Akula North Korea has recently been threatening to test a long range ballistic missile, shrugging off the concerns of the world community. Despite the threat of sanctions, they have persisted with preparations. The orders specified that I had 24 hours to accomplish the mission. That seemed like ample time to win aerial superiority before sending in the strike elements. With two Sentinels available, airborne radar coverage was not going to be a problem. The DPRK must have known that something was afoot. Flights of MiG-29 Fulcrums and MiG-23 Floggers were det…

Brad got me thinking about satellites this weekend and that got me to wondering how you, as scenario designers, like to define the path (altitude, direction, etc.) of a satellite. A satellite orbit can be fairly well described with 6 items of data as defined and explained at http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/basics/bsf5-1.html . I look at that and say, that's great but as a scenario designer is doesn't help me, in most cases I just want to plot a certain number of points and speeds over the map area I'm concerned about. That leaves some unknowns to be taken care of (like when it should appear next at the start of the path). Anyway, we're looking for ideas and I …
