January 17, 200917 yr Is it feasible to run a scenario solo, knowing where all the units are located and their strengths? Or is it kind of like trying to play chess against yourself where you have to try and forget what strategy you were using against the other side. Are there any good scenarios specifically set up for soloing or are they all slanted towards playing an opponent? Steve

Since there is no intended play balance, so long as you have an imagination, you can play through any scenario with a plausible result. Pete
January 17, 200917 yr My 2 cents is that ASW work is difficult to do solo as I find it difficult to not bias myself during the maneuvering and TMA process. Pretty much everything else I can keep my thoughts for each side to myself.

OK then I will pick an easy scenario maybe one from the quick start rules. I have my pencils sharpened, some graph paper, and my old nsvigation tools ready so I am off to sea. Have to pracice some with these many rules before trying something major. I will stay away from subs until I come up with some way to play them fair. Thanks for the replies, Steve
March 4, 200917 yr i havent touched my H4.1 since the new year started. I hope to get into some solo play soon (tomorrow?).
March 4, 200917 yr I was starting to wonder, but as I have been doing some other gaming right now, I cannot complain. Always goes in cycles so I know I'll be back in due time...and in earnest.
March 4, 200917 yr Author Been gaming simple scenarios to determine effects of certain weapons on different platforms. I have played computer harpoon since late eighties without understanding exactly what weapons are most effective in different situations. Have found the paper rules to be an excellent way to deternine what is going on in the computer game. I have also found the paper rules to be a good source of info for sensors and jamming. I can finally look at the platform descriptions in the computer game and understand what all the stats are meaning. I would highly recommend the rules and annexes to anyone wanting to learn the computer game better. Steve

March 15, 200917 yr Having the rules and stats in front of you when using the paper rules is great, and would help explain whats going on in PC harpoon (which i have never played). Another few questions for people; 1) when people are playing scenarios, do many people use playing areas that have different depth water (or do you play in water that remains constant in depth?)? 2) do people find subs often change depth in scenarios, or is it mainly just above/below the thermal layer type of depth changes?

Hi KC I must say that my ocean depths remain relatively constant. Had it been a multiplayer game, I'd like to think it would vary somewhat if the scale was large enough. Once again as a solo-ist my subs generally are either above or below the layer. At times they will be changing depth within those two "zones" but for some purpose, not willy-nilly, or even tactically to through off a pursuer, since it is normally me (again). I'd prolly get my subs smoked if I ever payed FtF.
