broncepulido Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Some opinions, feels or personal perceptions about Command, experience, developers, software madurity, etc ...? http://matrixgames.com/products/483/details/Command:.Modern.Air/Naval.Operations Quote
CV32 Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 We won't entertain much discussion here about our feelings about the developers, as that much is probably well known in the community and is better relegated to history, but the game itself looks pretty great. I guess more will become known shortly. Quote
CV32 Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 CAD$88 for the download. CAD$105 (including 'free' download) for the boxed version, shipping from 9 October. Quote
broncepulido Posted September 24, 2013 Author Report Posted September 24, 2013 Ohhh, ok, thanks Brad ... Quote
broncepulido Posted September 24, 2013 Author Report Posted September 24, 2013 At last and at least It was a great idea to begin the patch release process these days ... Quote
CV32 Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 Certainly lots of chatter about Command's cost, and although I can see both sides of the debate, I do have to admit that I lean towards defence of a higher sticker price generally. Â The sheer amount of work that goes into these kinds of niche products - and the value they offer - is difficult to measure in any other way than to say they are 'exceptional'. Â But as wargamers we probably aren't the most objective of observers, are we? Quote
TeTeT Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Is this the former 'red pill' game from a few years back? Has anyone here actually played it? Would be nice to know how far it compares against Harpoon and if the gameplay lives up to the polished graphics. Quote
TonyE Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Yes, this is Red Pill. I have played it and it goes a long way towards bridging the gap between HC and H3. I expect you can find all the information you want at the Matrix Games site, we won't be entertaining much of any discussion here, primarily because the discussion brings my enjoyment of visiting our site right near zero and anyone who still wants HC probably doesn't want that. TonyE Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 After consultation with the esteemed Mr. Leyte and input from various forum members we will be branching out from a Harpoon-centric site to a more broad wargaming site. Some more details will follow this weekend but Command will be in the mix for new forum additions. Quote
broncepulido Posted October 11, 2013 Author Report Posted October 11, 2013 Very prudent move. I saw the Command DB it's not very researched, in data content is only a derivative of previous H2/H3/ANW DBs. Also, Command is apparently very Harpoon2/3/ANW-like, I think HCE is far better to illustrate scenarios with a great number of units, both because complications in scenario design and also because hardware limitations. broncepulido Posted October 15, 2013 Author Report Posted October 15, 2013 In a personal message Mike Mykytyn explained me my confussion: "Command's DB is not a copy of Harpoon 3's although its fair to say that Ragnar's research and work contributed to it. Thanks Mike" Thanks, Mike. Quote
CV32 Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 I would not have expected otherwise. One does not abandon that volume of work easily. Quote
CV32 Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations 1.01 Review (SimHQ)No, not that review. Quote
Fulton Pollywog Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Ok - experts- Someone drop in some more details and history for Red Pill, please. I have read reviews here. I play HC often, think I have bought but never really gotten into H3. I am aware of some of the differences., What if any compatibility does it maintain with HC? Could a HC scenario at all import there? This intrigues me a fair bit. Flash graphics ain't a big thing to me. If anything - I see and understand and love some of the openness of the HC 2003 scenarios/ platforms, etc. thanks in advance 1 Quote
broncepulido Posted October 15, 2013 Author Report Posted October 15, 2013 I also love this openness. But I see clearly the Game Engine intrinsecal limitations, and the long term problema of absence of a Scenario Editor. I purchased Command the first day, and updated it, but I've not played it, real time issues and centered yet in HCE. Quote
