Adding planes to bases, list resetting to top

Question:

I have half a mind to make it so that you can't add aircraft to the base by selecting an aircraft at the base and then selecting Add Plane, should I do that? So you would still be able to add aircraft to Keflavik if Keflavik were selected but you couldn't add planes to Keflavik by selecting F-15s already at Keflavik.

This goes to future capability to have units carrying other units, the current behavior would not meld with that.

Looking for opinions :)

I would have to say "It depends." My current technique for populating a base or carrier is to put in the first a/c type, after which the list recycles to the top. I then select the a/c in the base/carrier window, and scroll down to the next a/c type I want in the available types list, and add as many as I need. This causes the available types list to stay in place afterwards, rather than recycling to the top, making adding any subsequent types less of a hassle. If you can fix the available types list so that it no longer recycles to the top after every selection, or if what you are proposing will not affect my technique, then I have no problem. If what you want to do will leave me having to scroll through the list every time, without a workaround, then I would prefer that you desist, although I recognize that you as the programmer have the last word. :P I hope that was comprehensible? More or less the same opinion than Warhorse, "it depends" ;) Thanks Tony for your constant work :)

Well, I thought the issue report suggested the list going to the top would be 'fixed' as part of the changes but I guess I can understand the confusion.

So the idea is to:

1. When adding aircraft, have the list of aircraft classes to a host platform (base, ship, farp,...) stay on the selection it was on before adding the aircraft. This is the issue report item.

2. When moving to a different host platform, the aircraft list will go back to the top. This is to prevent a crash if you go from a VLarge airfield to a ship and the current position of the list is now well beyond the available aircraft classes. (VLarge airfield may have 1000+ possible aircraft classes, ship may have 20, if you were at position 250 in the list before clicking the ship, a crash is possible).

3. When you select those F-15s you just added to Keflavik you won't be able to add more planes until you select Keflavik again.

Sound like a plan? I should have time to work on the code more Friday evening.

In my opinion moving towards getting piggyback units is great progress.

Clearly there's a strong desire to sort out that annoying plane reset in top panel (interesting the reasoning behind it).

(The change would make no difference to me as I didn't know the little trick, I've always had to put up with the aircraft resetting.)
