Evidently now we can install the new forward and aft mounts of 203mm Mk15 triple in the Baltimore and Rochester cruisers yet equipped with the erroneous 152mm Mk16 triple mount. A clear and quick reference table here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8%22/55_caliber_gun

NNSotD (Naval News Summary of the Day)
Thanks gemerson, very intesting news. That is curious at least: And this one, apparently a contradiction in terms, "has entered service", and "is ready for serial production" (some time ago IOC was estimated to be 2016):

U-2 CIA Official History declassified
Now with a little while to read or at least perouse it. Chapter 5, page 214, highly trained U-2 pilot used at least one time to pilot a rebel P-51 Mustang based in the island of Morotai (in 1958?) against Indonesian government bombers described as of "Czechoslovak manufacture" (Il-28 Beagle?, most probably A-26 or B-25 if the year is actually 1958, the Il-28 were received only from 1961). I see a lot of elements from the records is now translated in the Wikipedia article about U-2 Dragonlady.

In parallel, we can think about the bad USAF idea of covering the Mogul Project with fake covered crash landing of UFOs in 1947... at last carnage for conspiranoics and pyramidiots ... The books were the Pen&Sword book about the Tu-22 Blinder, and the Aerofax book about the Yak-2X variants.

At last returned from a few days "medieval trip" in France. Testing the Mutiny 1975 scenario now with the 2009.095 build. As expected, appreciable changes in the IA behaviour after the "untamming": - Now the Yak-28B attack and bombing the Krivak. - Now the Tu-22KD change the loadout from iron bombs to anti-ship missiles, and attack the Krivak. Very difficult now the Storozhevoy survival, thanks Tony!. Regretably, both sides can fullfil his victory conditions, but the victory Windows are not triggered ...

Note: this scenario is full of GE issues, but is playable as test and little divertimento. - The victory conditions are set and tested and are very easy: for the Red/USSR Government side to sunk the Storozhevoy frigate, end the mutiny and end the possibility of a new revolution. For the Blue/Mutineers side his goal is going near to Leningrad, shown his presence in the Gulf of Finland and into the Neva Delta near her revolutionary predecessor, the Aurora protected cruiser, and up rise the local population against the corrupt Communist government to establish a more pure Communist government. - But the stated victory conditions don't work on this scenario, I remake the scenario two times from scratch, but with the same result. You can get the victory conditions on any of the sides, but the victory screens and messages are not triggered neither sinking the Krivak for the Red side, neither keeping the Krivak on station for two hours near Leningrad for the Blue side, you must imagine them triggered if you fulfil the easy victory conditions .... - The Brewers are on formation patrol, looking for the Storozhevoy when you play the blue side, and of course detect she, but the AI don't attack the Storozhevoy. Same about the Tu-22KD Blinder-C, usually in the scenarios the AI automatically will take-off them and strike the Storozhevoy when detected, but this only happens in this scenario if they are armed with AS-4 Kitchen in a anti-surface loadout, not if they are loaded only with simple iron bombs! (I discovered it because I loaded the Blinders with iron bombs, a most probably loadout in this historical scenario, to avoid an AS-4 Kitchen going rogue and sinking a neutral ship). In other scenarios, the Tu-22KD or similar planes usually change his loadouts for an apropiate ship attack, take-off and attack and sink the enemy ship automatically. On this scenario, none of the expected AI comportments happens ...

The Storozhevoy Mutiny, 8-9 November 1975. Historical Scenario. A Harpoon Commander's Edition scenario for the EC2003 Battle for GIUK Gap Battleset and the HCCW-130801 1950-1975 Cold War Platform Database. Image: from Wikipedia Commons, his sister ship Legkiy in 1993. Description: Aerial starboard bow view of the Russian Northern Fleet Krivak I Class guided missile frigate Legkiy underway. Сторожевой корабль Лёгкий в Северной Атлантике, август 1993 года. On November 8, 1975, the day after of the 58th anniversary of the October Revolution in Riga, now capital city of Latvia (the date divergence comes from the change from the old Russian calendar) , Captain Third Rank Valery Mikhailovich Sablin, son and grandson of naval officers, the political commissar of the modern Soviet ASW frigate Storozhevoy and a committed Communist, called the crew together and showed them Battleship Potemkin, Sergei Eisenstein's fiction film account of the 1905 naval mutiny in Odessa. After the movie screening Sablin, inspired by the memory of the battleship Potemkin, and also by the presence of the near museum in Leningrad of the protected cruiser Aurora, which with her gunfire and crew had ignited the revolution of 1917, and for all his life in deeply disaccord with the current communism ruling the Soviet Union, decides to sail with the Storozhevoy to Leningrad, and broadcast a direct message to the Soviet people to start a new and pure revolution. After a voting, crew members and officers in disagreement with his action were confined at the sonar room. However, an officer escaped and radioed for assistance. The news reached the Kremlin and Leonid Brezhnev, who immediately issued an order to ^Bomb it and sink it^, even employing nuclear bombs if necessary. The mutiny was masqueraded to the rest of the world as an attempt at defecting to the West. The course for Leningrad, which would lead the ship through the Swedish island of Gotland and Stockholm as the gulf of Riga is impassable to the North, closed by the islands of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa, gave the mistaken impression that Storozhevoy was heading to Sweden instead of Leningrad. Until the end of the Cold War, Western intelligence believed that the crew was going to defect. This story inspired US author Tom Clancy to write the 1984 novel ^The Hunt for Red October^, and as consequence in a late stage the own Harpoon system, but that is another history. Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2
I detected a curious problem with some old types of jet fighters, those historically incapables of use afterburner below 7000-8000 meters or so, as: 11119 F-100D Super Sabre (Turkey) 11145 F-100A Super Sabre (Taiwan) 11146 F-100D Super Sabre (Danmark) 11147 F-100F Super Sabre (Turkey) 11622 Yak-28L Brewer B 11623 Yak-28I Brewer C 11624 Yak-28R Brewer D The solution to let them without reheat speed in the HCDB 1980-2015 in very low, low and medium heights was apparently correct, but now, when testing a scenario with Yak-28, I saw the actual result is: they're correctly incapable to use reheat speed at very low, low and medium heights, but as consequence (some other strange GE effect) they're also incapable to use reheat speed at high height! (Same effect if the plane is capable of use reheat at medium and high heights but not at low height, is converted in not afterburner capable plane at any height!). (With some testing, another effect obtained if the plane is make capable in the DB of use reheat at low and medium heights but not at high height: the plane can use reheat speed at low and medium heights as usual, but a high height, if we select reheat speed as expected speed=0 (the plane not keeps at maximum military speed!), but at least the throttle is changed to loiter, and not too much fuel is expended ...). As a GE related solution should be very difficult, another solution can be to add a fake reheat speed increased in 1 knot at very low/low and medium height (the GE runs well if I use the same speed values at military and reheat power at very low/low and medium heights, but I fear the AI uses the same speed but in afterburning throttle, expending fuel at too fast rate without factual increase in speed).

File - MEDC - Retake of Gibraltar by Exercise Cougar 13, August 2013, Alternate History Scenario
The idea was to represent the current forces situation in the simulation, and to check the feasability of the operation, it no pretends to be easier or not for one side or other. In the old Harpoon Classic Gold days, I develope a very similar scenario, and I was updating it along the years with the forces historical modifications. This was the first time I represent the Moroccan and Portuguese forces supporting UK, they were not present in the old Harpoon Classic Gold scenarios. In HCE this was the first attempt to reproduce the old scenario. Casually the today's forces correlation can be more balanced than years ago, because that I added Morocco and Portugal, also because to add flavour to the scenario. I thinked on include as UK victory condition to destroy the Blue Gibraltar bases, to represent his "retake", but I saw it was clearly too much for Britain. We should take in consideration the amphibious component of Cougar 13 comprises ALL the current UK amphibious assets, except those on refit or cocooned. If Cougar 13 is destroyed, UK clearly can't recovery Gibraltar. The present forces balance is clearly consecuence of the consecutive budgetary restraints in UK. Is very intersting the size reduction of the Royal Navy, but most interesting is, as mentioned, his lack of maritime patrol and ASW aircraft, lack of carrier aviation and lack of médium/long range air-to-ship missiles. At least Spain it's not Russia/USSR ...

This scenario is better to be played initially from the Blue/Spanish side to avoid spoilers, and only later play the Red/UK/Portuguese/Moroccan side. It's a complex scenario with the most historical accurate possible OOBs. The permanent crisis between Spain and the United Kingdom because the Gibraltar question was exacerbated in early August 2013 by the Gibraltar authorities planting a concrete reef in the neutral zone, provoking hard protest by the local Spanish fishermen. In a surprising movement to increase his internal popularity after the imposition of tick and slow border controls the previous weeks, the weak Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy government, stormed Gibraltar with special forces and seize it in a few hours with low casualties in both sides. As the Cold War was ended some twenty years ago, Gibraltar don't keep his previous strategic importance, and the assault was contemplated with indifference by United States and the European Union, and these countries expressed publicly his not intervention posture. Also, Spain counts with the strange political support of Argentina and other far-left Latin-American countries because the Falklands/Malvinas conflict, but Spain rival in other commercial issues. As casually all the British amphibious resources were compromised those days in the exercise Cougar 13, destination Gibraltar and the Mediterranean Sea, the United Kingdom decides can't wait for another better occasion to retake Gibraltar. And probably the United Kingdom can count with the local support of the Spanish neighbours, Portugal because the Olivenza question, and Morocco because the conquest of Gibraltar legitimizes the military invasion by Morocco of the Spanish Autonomous Cities of Ceuta and Melilla in the Morocco's north coast. This scenario reflects the very weak current situation of the British forces, without carrier fixed-wing aviation, without ASW and maritime patrol aircrafts, and without air-to-surface antiship missiles (short range and small Sea Skua aside). His main advantage against Spain are his SSN and his very great number of air-launched Storm Shadow cruise missiles. Spain has the advantage of the proximity to the theatre of operations, carrier fixed-wing aviation, a few ASW and maritime patrol aircrafts, and a few air-launched Taurus cruise missiles. But the Spanish submarine force is in transition and weak, and the support of Morocco and Portugal to the United Kingdom side can be decisive.
