  1. Russia: No Deal on Sale of Fighters, Subs to China (DefenseNews)
  2. Of relevant interest. These ships were operating together last week: Type 071 Yuzhao class amphibious dock landing ship Jinggangshan (999) Type 052C Luyang II class guided missile destroyer Lanzhou (170) Type 054A Jiangkai II class guided missile frigate Yulin (569) Type 054A Jiangkai II class guided missile frigate Hengshui (572) South China Sea Fleet Conducts Combat Readiness Patrol and High-Sea Training (Defense Aerospace)
  3. China To Buy Russian Fighters, Subs (DefenseNews) 24 Su-35s and four Lada SSK.
  4. Thanks rainman! Is this scenario meant for testing and feedback? If its ready to go, please use the Downloads section for new scenarios you'd like to share, rather than post them as attatchments. Again, thanks!
  5. Yes, it is factored into the DATA. It remains possible to add other countermeasures, however, as discussed below. It depends on whether the ECM are identified as offensive or defensive in the DB. Offensive types will affect enemy radar detection, while defensive types will bolster your DATA rating against attack. While nice, that's probably unlikely to happen in HCE at this point.
  6. If the proposed upgrade (which in its fullest forms includes more than just the CFTs) goes ahead, then yeah, we're probably there. The design did include plenty of room for upgrades. One thing is sure, Boeing smells blood in the water.

  8. Freedom Experiences Two More Power Outages (Aviation Week)
  9. They have appeared to be fairly small and loosely organized task forces. A recent exercise, for example, had two destroyers, two frigates and a supply ship. As you say, this is going to be evolving with the introduction of Liaoning and future carriers.
  10. And then we're back to sport/target shooting and self-defense reasons for owning one. Even Piers Morgan (ugh) claims to be "okay" with a person's right to own a handgun. Or you have one because you're a collector, or you inherited a family heirloom, in which case you could potentially get ridiculous endings like this one: How a prized WWI Luger ended up in a police exhibits room in North Van
  11. I wouldn't suggest you doing that, and I am sure there are other regulations prohibiting hunting in downtown London in any event. I am equally sure, however, that there are folks who live in the countryside or who have access to property in rural areas, who would take up the opportunity. I don't think they ought to be prohibited from owning and using a firearm (legally and safely) because a person in an urban area thinks guns are scary.
  12. US to demolish obsolete ICBM launch facilities (Jane's)
  13. I know some Brits who do exactly that. You might also take up any of a number of perfectly good sport/target shooting disciplines. No one says you have to, and you might have zero interest in doing so, which is fine, but I have a serious problem with folks telling me that I shouldn't, or cannot, because of their ill-founded fears.

  18. I'm betting you already own several. They just happen not to be firearms. In either case, I believe you have a fundamental right to defend yourself.
  19. First Littoral Combat Ship Loses, Regains Power (Aviation Week)
  20. Thankfully, David, it looks like the so called "assault weapons" ban (I dislike using their own misnomer, but there it is) is going nowhere in Congress.
  21. Russia to modernize Akula class attack submarines (RIA Novosti)
  22. More ship details (Navy Recognition)
  23. For those of you contemplating Persian Gulf scenarios, this might be helpful. Pictorial: Units of the U.S. Navys Naval Forces Central Command (DefenseNews, Intercepts blog)
