A forum for discussion of scenario design for Harpoon Classic/Commander's Edition

File Name: GIU3 File Submitter: Palex80 File Submitted: 02 Aug 2015 File Category: GIUK This is the third scenario in the series. PRELUDE: Following the victory of ECON against the US backed coup in the UK, the Labour party formed a government and the UK officially joined ECON. The most important result of the struggle over the UK happened elsewhere however. The Russian Kuznetsov carrier battle group came under attack by US aircraft in the North Sea. Whether the sinking of a Udaloy class destroyer by 3 Harpoon missiles fired by US F/A-18s was a mistake or deliberate action will never be known. The Putin-Merkel pact was signed the following day, forming a…

Hello, I am creating a new scenario and I have the next question? Does an aircraft flies longer if it flies higher? For example, I have an aircraft with... Low level, cruise speed: 300 knots. High level, cruise speed: 400 knots. Does it spend the same level of fuel flying at different speeds so it can flies longer flying at high level?

Scenario: Iron Wolf Author: Brad Leyte (CV32) Battleset: EC2003 GIUK Database: HCDB Skill level: Intermediate Involved units: Full (Land\Sea\Air operations) Where can I get it? Here (Harpgamer) Review: First impressions: As I have come to expect from a Brad Leyte scenario, this one requires some good interpretation of the orders by the player and the ability of the player to devise their own plan, rather than working to already outlined goals. This I find to be quite enjoyable and most certainley a method of scenario creation which is very much like Brad's signature on the scenarios he writes. When I first opened the scenario I was presented with con…

I am having a problem getting homemade scenarios to work. So last night I reinstalled HCE and copied the original-original .mdb and .res files for safe keeping. Went into PlatEdit-Import DB-and changed the AA denfenses for Kef-Red and added a blue airbase in Greenland (an overwrite) using the basic, provided DB - Export DB. All OK, I can pull up the saved data in PlatEdit and can create a scenorio with ScenEdit using the new bases. BUT I can not load it to play. I get this message "GetAnnex Error-ADDIDToList Error: expected a disk ID, got 0 (0x0). this message has been logged. The program will now terminate". HELP!

Finding the enemy is a big part of the game, actually defeating the enemy is also a big part of the game, actually just surviving is perhaps the biggest part of the game. I expect to be able to make a number of upgrades to this as time goes on, and in particular to provide a version for IJ…

Even following the collapse of the Soviet state, the area remains disputed. Japan claims that the southern most of the Islands, which were not specifically covered in the Treaty of San Francisco of 1951, are rightfully Japanese Territory. Negotiations have yet to settle this dispute. Click here to download this file

This scenario is designed for play by the BLUE side. At the conclusion of World War II, the Soviet Union annexed the sparsely populated islands of the Kuril archipelago, a region they had seized and occupied during an offensive undertaken in the closing days of the war. File Name: "Iron Lady" SNS Dedalo, Mediterranean ASW 1989 File Submitter: broncepulido File Submitted: 17 Apr 2011 File Category: MEDC A Mediterranean basically ASW scenario inspired by the old scenario booklets of the Harpoon 3 series of the late 1980s and early 1990s, good for easy gameplay and for testing generic tactics and weapons. Actually is a mix-up of individual naval scenarios as only the Computer Harpoon can provide. And reflecting all the knowledge adquired the last years in some matters, as about Soviet/Russian platforms and forces composition. The scenario is also a tribute to the USS Cabot CVL-28/SNS Dedalo R01 and her American and Spanish crews. De…

  15. Heads' up to scenario authors, the scenario file format changes again in 2017.008 (not released yet) which means scenarios made with the 2017.008 or newer SE will not work in builds of the GE older than 2017.008 and won't be editable in SE builds older than 2017.008. The changes so far are internal and invisible to the scenario author and player. In other words there is no compelling reason for you to move to the new SE right out of the gate. Eventually there will be but by that time I'll probably have changed the scenario format again. To quickly summarize what does change is that each unit, group, scenario, saved game, and plane record (aircraft on the ground)…

After Action Report: Operation Island Wind A scenario by Akula Let me say, first of all, this scenario is indeed a job well done, especially for a first completed and released scenario. I don't profess to be an expert, but I've created a few scenarios and played a few, and this one was really a good job. Hats off ! As well, I must point out just how "prophetic" this scenario turned out to be. The very same day that Akula posted his scenario announcement, North Korea launched half a dozen missiles or more, arousing Japan’s ire. To set up for the strike against the missile base, I moved the three surface action groups (centred on the Kongo class Aegis de…

In a surprising decission with the absurd allegation of budgetary eficiency, on November 2010 the US Navy decides to purchase a great number of LCS, when yet are not resolved a myriad of issues relatives to the ship design, concept and tasks. The US Navy will purchase ten ships of each one of the concurrent designs (a…

SPOILERS APPLY Finished this great scenario a while ago. The luck of the draw gave me two subs, A Dutch diesel sub and a modern English SSN. I ended up with a victory, but really the bad guys won- I was careless with my submarines, heading straight for the target, and they both were sunk. I did "ration" my long range aircraft ordnance, resulting in the loss of a number of Tornadoes, but did sink the carrier with aircraft after awhile. This is a well crafted scenario, thanks Broncepulido for a great job.

  19. The release by Matrix of a new HUCE patch (with a very large amount of enhancements) has spurred on some of the Harpgamer crew and we have a new Pacific Islands battleset in the making utalising some of TonyE's tips so as to break the eastern 180 deg boundary and include Hawaii (Pearl Harbour), amongst other locations, and also additional island land-mass in the elevation map. The above pic is a representation of the cover we are looking at with notation illustrating islands that are available. It's yet to be decided but the geogrphical notation might be included in texture map. At present we are considering a couple of strings of scenario sets in different time peri…

The (I think last) third in the saga. Your British carrier group has to cruise to port in Gibraltar and dodge one or two French nasties. Depending on your luck with the groups initial (variable) positions this can end in a naval gunnery battle, or rather nasty sub attack (or both). Hope you enjoy it.
