Brad, Rene, and myself went thru a chat about refueling. When tweaking code in 2007.023 it was pretty apparent that refueling can be expanded from its current behavior without breaking the scenario or save game format. Goals: 1. Allow a tanker to offload fuel multiple times, until it has no more fuel to offload. 2. Separate the amount of offloadable fuel from the tanker's loadout range, instead characterize it in 'drop tanks'. Mechanism: 1. Tanker loadouts will use a special case drop-tank with a non-zero range. Hi While playing the latest scen from Ralf i lost two Perry FFG to ASMs. What makes me wonder ist the fact that those ship didn´t fire their SM-1 but the Phanlanx Gun was empty and also some 76mm Shells were fired. Only the ships with longer ranged SAMs fired on the incomming ASMs Staff setting was optimum range and highest fire rate.... Has anyone else similar expierineces? It is nothing what i want to call a bug, only something strange, maybee with a logical explanation? Regards René

Sorry if this is either obvious or unhelpful but if it is useful great. In my testing installation (I've only just sorted out installations as suggested in beta testing guide) I have basically the latest beta (der!!) but I still have the 2009.036 GE (left with winharp32.exe name) and I've named the beta GE winharp39.exe. Now if I want to run a particular saved game or scenario (with an optional selected database, which I have in the beta main folder and with descriptive names) I use the launcher and just amend the GE name in the launcher window depending upon which GE I want to use. OK guys...here it is...Scen-Zilla. I'm not releasing this in the general public forum yet because I really need to know a few things due to its size. This one needs a real, thourough test please, what I need you to look for are the following. 1. Scenario can run on your computer. If it does not RAM and processor speeds would be helpfull for tweaking decisions. 2. Obvioulsy that all victory conditions for the player can be met. I am personally going to play through as red to check the AI's conditions (they may get eased up some). 3. Do ships run aground? We have to get a new demo build out in the next couple of days. I'm regretting opening the hornet's nest of attacking ships and subs in port. That is some of the toughest code and of course is pretty key to the game. It should have been left to the grand re-working but I may revamp it before then since I did stir up the hornet's nest.

Love the ability to zoom out further with the unit window! Looks like the new unit window is essentially identical to the group window, just it shows individual units within formation. Very handy, but is anyone else noticing the "choppy" movement of units/missles when you zoom into 16x or smaller? Seems that once you get 16x or smaller the unit window become almost unusable. Is there anything that can be done to smooth out unit/missile movement in the smaller zooms of the new unit window?

I was playing a user scenario from GIUK EC2003. In the saved game "NOGO", Blue airgroup BQA is attacking Red subgroup ZXV north of Iceland. BQA will release its final torpedo on target. The Staff Assistant will announce that BQA is out of torpedoes; return to base Y/N? Select "Yes" and the group will loiter; select "No" and the group will leave. This happened on both the Vista and XP machines. NOGO.zip

In a previous discussion I was part of (Matrix Harpoon forum, Feb 18/09), I was given to understand that an Aegis cruiser was assigned a ROF of 20 and a control limit of 20 by Harpoon, that is, the ship is able to control 20 SAMs at a time, and can replenish them at the rate of 20 every 30 s. (In addition, I thought that the ship would normally fire 2 SAMs per target.) More recently (Harpgamer forum, July 28/09), I was informed that this Aegis cruiser can fire up to 30 SAMs per 60 s. I'm wondering if it's possible to get some kind of "lock" for the windows, as I'm functionally an idiot, I keep managing to press the "cascade" button and ruin my window sizes and whatnot. Could we get a "custom" remembering feature or a lock so you can't change it?

2008.058 SE Little did I know there was even a Rename Unit command in the SE. Anyway, I tried to rename the Blue airfield in WestPac 1.0 and the SE crashed with a GetAnnex error. For now I'd suggest not using the Rename Unit with non ship/sub units but maybe there is hope to enable renaming since the UI already exists (as does the data structure).

I'm back to getting the old Vista "Not Responding" whenever I try to use time compression in any scenario with 2008.061. Sometimes it passes, sometimes not. I'm also getting the "Program has stopped working" on exit, which went away for a while. I think it's apparent that Vista has had a problem running Harpoon from the initial inability to use the Help menu through the ever present "Not Responding" for which Vista is famous. I don't blame Harpoon for this, I blame Vista, which is the biggest disaater since the Edsel if you ask me.
