I've just started getting into the HCE demo. I've been fooling around with some of the WesPac scenarios and to accelerate the learning process I'd like to read some AARs. Can anyone point me to where I might find some please. I've looked in the Scenario Discussion Section but it seems to be mostly postings of new scenarios. Thanks!

While playtesting a scenario (attempting to get bombers to attack a CSG) I had some seriously strange stuff happen. A base with 36 Badgers and 36 tankers was tasked with launching 18 tankers and 18 bombers. Several times the bombers got within 200 miles of the CSG but turned around. Added 3 recon aircraft and launched one with two tankers 1 minute after scenario start, then launched 12 bombers and 12 tankers one hour later. Saved it as a different name entirely. Not only did 18 bombers show up (just like the original) but a second flight I didn't order PLUS the recon birds with 12 bombers on their heels! The 12 bombers attacked (proving that I needed a recon bird to put …

Someone want to take a crack at creating a new Battleset (using the Battleset Builder utility) for the Caucasus region? Ideally I think it would include the Caspian Sea on the east (right hand) side, and the eastern portions of the Black and Mediterranean Seas on the left. Maybe centred on Tbilisi, Georgia. It might be nice to be able to include a good portion of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well, but the resulting map might be a bit too large. Messing around with the BSB will tell for sure.

I thought I would try the WWII battleset built by Mavgaz, and I downloaded it. When I tried to copy it into the HUCE directory, I was told I would be overwriting other files. The two file names are hdsu.res and hdsu.rsr. AFAIK, I do not already have a WWII battleset installed, and certainly one doesn't show up among the listed battlesets I can select from when I start the game. What would I be overwriting if I put in these new download files? And in what seems to be a related question -- the Battleset builder. It prompts for, among other things, two files with .res and .rsr extensions. And I decided to throw in the hdsu. files (the ones I already had, not the one…

I'm going to ask even though I'm sure this should be in the 'Dumb Question' thread. I've recently been getting back in Harpoon and playing the HCE demo. Its addictive as I remember from back in the day. As the original Harpoon evolved has multiplayer online play ever been considered? I don't see any mention in the HCE description.

Dear friends: After years I have reinstalled the HUE. But since I have another operating system, Windows 7 64, I am running into some problems. One of them, in HUCE, is the Staff officer window. I can't see all the information and I don't have access to the options it offered you. I've tried changing the desktop resolution, but nothing. It is the only defect that I find, the rest seems to be going well. Is there any solution? Sorry if this doesn't go here. Thanks.

I had an interesting thing happen last night. The situation is two medium size enemy surface groups approaching, and submarines. Blue side fired a number of rounds of ASROC at subs intermediate the two main group bodies. The Red fired SAM (SM-2s?) at the ASROCs but the ASROCs delivered their loads before SAM intercept and the SAM kept going to hit one of the Blue ships. All of that I think is very good behaviour. The ship hit (and surrounding ships in the group) appeared to make no defensive move against the incoming missiles, not even the usual point defense got x of 'em, although they did warn 'in coming missiles you should fire up the radar' type message. . Has an…

Updated to run on new age 2023.004+ beta GEs, new content and name changed to AI_Window (better description of its function) New information : SE version used to write the scenario, Database versions in original scenario, last scenario saved and loaded in current game, Current GE version, Battleset, file name/path for custom scenario games and original scenario ID for Battleset scenario. Added unit detail for missiles and torpedos in the Group window and moved 'showing' information to near the top o…

My focus at the moment is the acoustic (water, sonar) noise created by surface units when group formation is changed. In the current workings of HC when you move a surface unit to a new group formation location (station) it will usually proceed at full speed and thus be very noisy and thus more easily detected by enemy submarines. My usual practice has been if I suspect any likely hood of enemy subs within the region I will go into the unit window and select changing of station units and limit their speed, limiting group speed also if needed to allow the station change to occur in reasonable time. What do others do or think about this situation. I am contemplati…

Specifically, the one that was posted here? The download link just fetches an empty 0KB file. Seems like a nicely done mod for a little bit more modern scenarios. It's too bad the author is no longer active here nor on the Matrix Games forums, otherwise I would have contacted him directly.

A revised version of AARdata.dll has been up loaded to the downloads section. This add-on program gives a summary of game information produced at the normal closure of a game (see attached graphic) including game time and real time spent overall and by sessions, game message log, summary of 'kills' and damaged platforms and victory conditions met. Report .txt files are named from the battleset name and file number (0 if a custom scenario, scenario number if an embedded battleset scenario) and are replaced when starting a new scenario of same battleset/file number. (pictured report from a auto play game at full time acceleration)

Last night i had a chopper landing on my frigate and the target of an enemy SAM (sm-2 I think) and was delighted but surprised to see the information "point defense got 'em all". Looking at my weapon ammo i deduced it was the 3" otto gun that got the kill. I've previously seen in a similar situation where the chopper lands before impact the sam hits the ship so really a nice result. Unbelievable shooting, maybe.

View File SouthPacificIslands This Battleset covers the islands of SouthWest Pacific extending to the east to Hawaii (Pearl Harbour),to the west to much of South China Sea and to the south to the northern end of New Zealand. The built in scenarios use database HCCW-140314 (available in Harpgamer downloads) but you can write scenarios using any database, this zip pack includes a template style scenario for HCDB 150929 as a suggested easy starting point The idea of this scenario is to allow easy writing of new scenarios by moving groups to where you want them, or deleting unwanted ones, setting up victory conditions and orders. The datab…
