A provocative commentary on Greek economic woes ... From National Post Greece is one giant Ponzi scheme Posted: April 28, 2010, 8:59 PM by NP Editor By Steven R. Earle The problem with much of the opinion surrounding the Greek financial crisis is that few writers actually have any experience in Greece, in dealing with its politicians, its bankers, its systems, its cultural proclivities and its people. I personally have such experience, as between 2003 and 2008 as chief executive of a startup airline we invested €20-million ($26.7-million) in the country to develop seaplane operations between isolated islands. This was an essential service that was import…

Our hosting provider is doing infrastructure upgrades (from spinning disks to SSD as well as ancient AMD to somewhat less ancient Intel Xeon machines) on February 28 into the 29th so there may be more downtime than usual but hopefully a faster forum on the other side of the upgrades!

A particular and amusing interpretation of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis events. Don't miss the ASW operations, with mutant use of active sonar and tractive MAD to get-off the water a fictitious SSBN with counterotating propellers and X-shape tail planes. Also, first operational use of the VTOL variant of the A-12 Oxcart.

Thank you veterans for your service. The very human aspect of war detests me, the individual stories of comradeship and overcoming adversity inspire. Oh, and the weapons of war are just amazing! Carry on Harpooners

1st Mission of a 3 Day Skirmish Campaign in Iraq, 1991. Target: Communications Center in Northern Iraq. It appears to be lightly defended – intel has only uncovered a solitary 37mm AA Gun and SA-7. We can expect a minimal air threat. The distance involved cuts our weight capacity in half. It is a four aircraft strike, led by the veteran Snake (2x AIM-9, 1x Mk84), average Fox (2x AIM-9, 1x Mk84) and Lightning (2x AIM-9, 1x AGM-65), and green Big Red (2x AIM-9, 1x AGM-65). No Special Option used in this raid. Saving for bigger things to come. Snake and Big Red approach from the south, while Fox and Lightning approach from the west. Bad weather over…

Being election day in the USA I thought it was time to remind everyone that the annual vote for Pooner and Lifetime Pooner is approaching. Voting will begin December 1st. The big news is that this is the 10th Anniversary of the first Pooner vote (Tom Wenck won back in 1996 for his pfedit program). While the details are not in place yet, the 2006 winner will likely get some kind of physical reward and measure of thanks above and beyond the electronic award and thanks of the community. For more details and to view the past winners, visit http://www.harpoonpages.com/poonervote/pooner-Intro.php Please post this message on any forum/list/newsgroup where Harpoon p…

From The Telegraph Transcript of the 'friendly fire' video Last Updated: 2:42am GMT 07/02/2007 The pilots of the single seat A-10 tankbuster aircraft's call signs are POPOV35 and POPOV36. It is POPOV36 who carries out the two attacks. The main American air controller they liaise with is call sign Manila Hotel. Later, other call signs come speak to relay emergency ceasefire messages. They are Sky Chief, an American jet controlling the overall air battle, and COSTA58, a British pilot nearby. The time code in hours, minutes and seconds is from the digital clock on the pilot's display. The 15-minute video transcript published in the Sun newspaper begins just before t…
