SSM and ASuW scenario

Featured Replies

I read the rule as...

If the target is between the land and the searcher and the land is within the radar's range and radar LOS then half the range of the radar so a bit more persnickety than these other two gents.

Regarding Radar: What type of info should be given if a helicopter picks up a large or small contact, should the size class be given?

Also, advanced types of radar, as ISAR, can provide images of the target, reflected as "classification" flag in Harpoon ANW, I think.

It does seem that electronic warfare modifiers are high: Small signature with 2nd Gen J&D vs a 2nd Gen SSM: (80% chance knocked down to 40%) Bad die rolls hurt the pirates too. One roll of 87 and the other 82!!!

I've not time for searching data in this moment, we can search data about the Vietnam or Arab-Israeli wars and obtain a correlation between SAM missile (as example) fired and planes shot down.

More about the same topic, as example in Osprey's New Vanguard 134, "Red SAM, the SA-2 Guideline Anti-Aircraft Missile", in page 24, we can see in Vietnam War, counting countermeasures, North Vietnamese shooted 26,6 missiles for aircraft kill (i.e, PK/PH=3,76%, very far of 40%).

I've got that book. :)

The main impact of the S-75/SA-2 was causing the US to cancel strikes at the first whiff of them...

Yes! :D This makes sense.

I assume this rule only applies to Surface to Surface radar contacts. Ground clutter from airborne radar is another kettle of fish altogether!

SAR and ISAR radars are in the H4.1 rules too.

When contacts are detected by a radar that classified as SAR or ISAR, the detected aircraft and ships can be classified by type or class, and ground targets can be identified.

Thanks :D I just thought it would be possible with ordinary radar differentiate between contact sizes.
