Haha Pete, if it weren't for the cost of shipping that'd be great. It might be worthwhile creating a database of available books though in case someone really really wants to see a book someone else has. For Sixth Battle it was $4 including shipping from Amazon for a used copy in quite good condition which is tough to beat with a book loan program.

Tillman yep. I'm interested to see how it goes since I played Brad's scen by the same name before I've had an opportunity to read the book. Speaking of which, I've put it off long enough!

So sleep almost got skipped last night! My reading didn't get started until after 10pm. Finally at 3:30am I put down the book and got a few hours of sleep. The book is more than I could have hoped for in breadth of weaponry and dirty little Soviet er UER weapon capabilities secrets.

I loved that book so much that I'm on my second copy of it. My first is falling apart somewhere.....

 

The thing that hooked me was the description of Russian SSMs and the SS-N-19s ability to designate targets for other missiles in flight. That comment was way ahead of it's time and even more suprising, it turned out to be true. I've always said that we should thank the war gods that we never had to face up to something like that.

Well the "Fathers Day Fairy" stopped by on sunday and left a "like-new" copy of Tillman's Sixth Battle. I look forward to delving in but not before I complete Clash of Cavalry, The Battle of Brandy Station, which is just about to explode after a couple of chapters of character and unit development as well as Horse Cavalry 101.

 

I look forward to finally reading Sixth Battle.

I've been slogging through it the last 2 shifts on patrol Brad, I'm finding it hard going. I have to say that they really really did their research on it, perhaps a bit too much even. I don't want to spoil it for you but I can't really agree with their premise 100%. The facts aren't adding up to the history involved.

You can't spoil it for me. I finished it a few days ago. Too much research? Bah.

 

I don't know if there is much in life I'd agree with 100 percent, but in any event, Tully and Parshall make a convincing argument and, as you say, they did plenty of research to back up that argument.
