The Heart of the Problem, Part 3

It is October 2022 and the Chinese have invaded Taiwan. The US is on the way to help. This might prove difficult. A larger and challenging scenario that explores the difficulty of reinforcing Taiwan. OOB and situation is pretty close to what's in the theater today. Uses GE ver. 2022.11. Duck.

Too busy in real life, starting yesterday to play your very very impressive scenario, promising hours of enjoy!

But Blue side achieved minimum victory condition at some 23 minutes of gameplay!

Seven Red ships damaged?????

Employing the cheat mode, I observe the seven damaged ships are (as in fact expected) grounded ships of the groups XWS, XXS (Edited, those two groups are damaged/grounded escort ships splitted from ZAS) and ZAS, mostly amphibians with some 16-17% damage.

But reading the victory conditions with the scenario editor this is not the case, as Blue Total Victory Condition 1 rules five amphibians sunk, but not lightly damaged.

The case is in Blue Minimum Victory Condition 1, as rules is achieved with only 4 Red aircraft destroyed, perhaps a typo?

Some other minor caveat is the presence of some phased-out platforms (LST Yukan Type 072 1978-2020, USAF C-130E 1962-2015?, MH-60S Seahawk 02 2002-2011?, UH-46D Sea Knight 1966-2004), but are also minor units and irrelevant for the scenario outcome and enjoy, congrats again!!!

YNU Red Submarine Group is grounded and splitted in two very probably from the scenario start.

Northern SSK Chang Chen 330 get a 16% damage with the island "encounter" and gets her own group.

Keeps as a great and very fun and realistic scenario with only some three hours gametime played now, congrats again and again!!!

 

I'm new back after many years, originally played in early 90s.  Thanks everyone for keeping Harpoon alive.

when trying to start this scenario i am getting "requested scenario file needs a newer version of the game...."  version 7 versus my version 3.  I thought I had downloaded all the update what am I missing?

I feel like a noob [again].

There has been a lot of progress since the last official patch distributed by Matrix Games in 2015.  We publish the interim (beta) builds at https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/topic/29035-current-files/ 

Installing that will bring you up to date.  

For an extra challenge, this scenario also requires a different database.  You download https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/files/file/934-hcdb2-170909-1980-2025/ and extract it to your main game directory (by default C:\Matrix Games\HUCE .  The original HCDB database will still be available in the commondb.bak directory when you need it for other scenarios (or download it from harpgamer.com).

We can help you through if you run into challenges, it can take a while to get used to the file swapping.  Someday we'll get around to tools that make it easier!

But in the meantime we all use your HC launcher from the downloads section
