2008.021 Opening Sequence

Featured Replies

I just DL'd ansd installed 2008.021, and when I load the game the old opening sequence seems to be gone. By that I mean, I'm not presented with any Battleset or Scenario menus, it just goes straight to a scenario, seemingly at random. To load a specific Battleset/Scenario, read the Orders, etc. it is necessary to allow the random scenario to load and then select File - New from the pulldown menu. At this point I can select a Battleset, Scenario, read the Orders and select game options. Hardly a disaster by any means, but a little inconvemient.

In this build the hook for instant action is set.

Go via "new" to the selction screen and uncheck "instant action"

That seems to have done it, thanx. I hate to admit it, but in all my years playing Harpoon, I never noticed that "Instant Action" box before, or if I did, I never knew what it did.

Hehe, I figured we fixed and expanded the feature, may as well turn it on for newbies or nobody would ever see it :)

Very humorous, Tony. Actually, it seems a useful feature if you just want to sit down and play a quick game withiout straining your brain too much getting started. I would suggest renaming the function to "Random Scenario" or something like that, though. "Enable Instant Action" sounds like it has some sort of effect on how quickly contact is made in the selected scenario, such as enemy units starting within sensor range as opposed to search and localization being necessary. Just a thought.
