December 22, 201411 yr I haven't play for a couple of years and I have forgotten how to start the HCE Platform Editor... Can anybody help me? Harpoon Ultimate Commanders Edition v2009.097 + Windows Vista + MS Access 2007 Thanks a lot.
December 22, 201411 yr In the main menú, or going to the HCE folder and clicking on the pfBuild2005 file.
December 24, 201411 yr Author There wasn't problems with editing HUCE 2009.050 database. But I can't edit the HUCE 2009.097 database. Because you can open the file but cannot edit it. ...and after a couple of minutes searching for a solution myself: you can try a beta solution for this problem. 1) You should copy the next four files to an independent folder: pfBuild2005 pfData2005 commondb.res commondb.rsr 2) You can open the pfBuild file now. 3) You can import the database now. 4) You can edit all the entries now. 5) You can export the database now. 6) You should copy the modified files now to HUCE folder. That's all folks!
December 27, 201411 yr Thank you for posting your work-around. The issue you saw may be particular to your configuration as it does not occur in the two test systems I tried (Win7 64-bit and Win8.1 64-bit) but hopefully what you found will help others get the PE running.
June 23, 201510 yr I have a different problem. Windows 8.1, Microsoft Access 2010. Will not accept edits. I had another machine trashed by malware that had Windows 7 pro and Access 2010, and no problems. Access 2010 in the Windows 8.1 environment will read the pfdata2005 file with a bit of coaxing, but I get table linking errors on edits. BTW, I have been using the platform editor for some time, and always use independent folders on a flash drive.
October 22, 201510 yr Tony, I've been away for a while. Where do I file the issue report? or should I wait for the new MS Access database. My new Windows 8.1 machine will not load the database. I have done step by step screen captures, ready to send, along with files.
October 22, 201510 yr Hi Greg, at http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/tracker/project-2-hce/you should find a Start New Issue button. You can attach files there as well as enter your detailed description. What version of Access do you have on the Windows 8.1 machine? If you have Access 2013 or 2016 you will want to give the new beta a try as I brought the pfBuild2005.mdb and pfData2005.mdb files up to Access XP/2003 format from Access 97 format so that Access 2013 and 2016 can open them. http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/topic/2049-current-files/
March 14, 201610 yr Author Hello again, folks! I thought I have resolved the problem but when running HUCE and Scenario Editor the database seems to do not have changed from the original (HCDB-150928). In pdf manuals they say that we can use the edited database at EC2003 and WestPac battlesets. That's what I did with database files: 1) Copy commondb.res, commondb.rsr, pfBuild2005, pfData2005 to another folder. 2) Open pfBuild2005 (it links to pfData2005) and import database. 3) Edit some weapons (SM-2MR, for example). 4) Rename editor and database name. 5) Export database. 6) Copy commondb.res, commond.rsr, pfBuild2005, pfData2005 to HUCE folder. P.D.: You cannot open pfBuild2005 and pfData2005 at HUCE folder because they are only for reading. Also I can see that commondb.res and commondb.rsr are not edited at all because they keep their old date of editing. Then I run the Scenario Editor or HUCE and it says that the database was the original one (HCDB-150928) for HUCE 2015.25. Does anybody knows what's my problem with Platform Editor? What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance, folks!
March 14, 201610 yr jugusa77, doing any copying just makes the situation more complex. Until you are very comfortable with the process, open pfBuild2005.mdb right from the HUCE folder, no copying of anything except if you are making a backup before making changes, in which case you are still opening pfBuild2005.mdb from the HUCE directory. You will have to be more specific about something being read-only, that should only happen if you errantly installed the game under Program Files or Program Files (x86) (or a number of other protected folders).

TonyE, thanks. I have HUCE 2015.025 (64-bit version) and we have the backup files at the root directory. The problem when I open pfBuild2005 on HUCE root directory it is that Access is not able to redirect the link to pfData2005. That's why I must copy the four files (commondb.res, commondb.rsr, pfBuild2005 and pfData) to another folder. The HUCE folder at Program Files (x86) is a read-only one by defect so all the files are read-only. I will try reinstalling it again at C:\Matrix Games\HUCE and see if it works properly I make a back-up of the four files (commondb.res, commondb.rsr, pfBuild2005 and pfData) to another folder. Then I open pfBuild2005, import database, append some entries and export database. When I export the database there are two files (commondb.res and commondb.rsr) that are not modified and I don't know that they should have changed after exporting the database. Later I copy the four files edited to HUCE root but it seems that the database for EC2003 battlesets hasn't change because you can read at Scenario Editor that it is HCDB-150928. P.D.: I always append entries (nor add nor delete) as pdf manual says in order that database not to crack when running EC2003 and WestPac original battlesets and their scenarios attached. P.D.: Some years ago I was editing HCE 2009.050 version on WIndows Vista 32-bit and it doesn't work today. Later I was editing HUCE 2009.097 version. And today I am editing HUCE 2015.025 (HCDB-150928) version on Windows 7 64-bit. Thanks again.

March 14, 201610 yr , thank you for reporting back and I'm glad that you are successfully editing the database(s) again!
