December 1, 200718 yr HarpoonPages invites you to participate in the 11th Annual Pooner Vote. Congratulations again to the 2006 Pooner Jan Paul Koester and lifetime Pooner Darrel Dearing. The 2007 Pooner will receive their choice of H3ANW, HCE, or World In Conflict but the real reward is the voters sharing their reasons for choosing who they chose. There will be no Lifetime Pooner awarded this year in order to get back to a roughly two to one ratio of yearly to lifetime Pooners. To vote and view the past winners, visit http://www.harpoonpages.com/poonervote/pooner-Intro.php. !!!Please note that you can vote for anyone who hasn't previously won, even if they aren't listed as having been voted for yet this year!!! If you have any difficulties voting, send an e-mail to pooner@harpoonpages.com with your name, e-mail address, and your vote for Pooner and I will enter them manually. Please post this message on any forum/list/newsgroup where Harpoon players reside so that we can bring in as many votes and kudos as possible to those who sustain Harpoon.
December 2, 200718 yr I'm voting for Tony Eischens as the Harpoon player of the year for his support of both Harpoon3 and Harpoon Classic communities. As a member of the HC3 group, he provides support for a game that would otherwise get none from the developers. He runs two H3: ANW Multi-player servers for the convenience and enjoyment of the community and never asks for anything in return. Also, he creates utilities for both HC and H3 so that database editors and scenario designers can spend their time writing new creations for everyone to enjoy. I don't give a rat's a$$ that he says that I can't vote for him. If it means that my vote gets thrown away, then it's thrown away. Not including him in the voting process is pure nonsense. Also, I am putting in a nomination for a Lifetime Harpoon award for Darren Buckley for his ongoing efforts with Harpoon ANW and the Harpoon Users Database. I don't agree that there is any necessity for it only being offered on a two-year basis. Without Darren's efforts and dedication, the state of ANW would be far different than what it currently is. There are many other notable folks who have made significant contributions to the community this year, too. Although I couldn't vote for them, they deserve to be recognized. Freek Schepers - for continually writing new scenarios for H3 and ANW Larry Gertner - for slowly, but steadily re-building Harpoon Classic scenarios so that they may be enjoyed in HCE Brad Leyte - for maintaining the HCDB and offering a steady flow of scenarios
December 3, 200718 yr I've voted for Ralf Koelbach for the 2007 Pooner award. Ralf has the rare distinction of being a solid contributor to new (and challenging !) scenarios in both the Harpoon Commander's Edition and H3/ANW games. That's an accomplishment that I believe is deserving of special recognition. On top of the time and hard work spent to to deliver to the community its very life blood - new scenarios! - Ralf is always willing to provide valuable assistance to others in testing their own scenarios. He does all of this in in an amicable and gentlemanly fashion, something else worthy of acclaim, and so I happily nominate Ralf Koelbach to be the 2007 Pooner of the Year.
December 30, 200718 yr Author 36 or so hours left to vote, don't forget! To vote and view the past winners, visit http://www.harpoonpages.com/poonervote/pooner-Intro.php
January 1, 200818 yr Author I voted for Ralf as well this year for all of the reasons Brad lists , emphasis on the gentlemanly part. If I had a second vote, it would go to Herman for his introducing new players to the game, walking them thru Dawn Patrol more times than anyone would like to count, and extensively documenting bugs/issues with the computer Harpoon games.
