NAVCON 2014

Featured Replies

The folks that run NAVCON have announced their 2014 dates, October 3, 4, 5!

Here is their web site: http://www.navcongames.com

Here is the previous HG post: http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/topic/22045-navcon-2013/

I would love to make this a gathering of us naval war gamers. Digital and Paper Harpooning to be had for sure.

Who is interested? What would make you interested if you aren't already? If there is a fair bit of interest we'll start brainstorming how to make this possible and what extra activities to arrange. Maybe a trip to my homeland of Minnesota or an excursion down to Chicago?

Thank you for your consideration.

Unfortunately there is not enough interest in arranging a gathering at this event. Most likely I will still attend but won't be organizing any special events nor trying to convince celebrities in the community to attend.

I will be attending Friday night (8 or 9pm start) through a bit on Sunday. Anyone else planning on attending?

eeustice and I participated in a Harpoon 4.1 (paper) scenario along with the umpire (Raymond Runge) and another pleasant fellow.

Here was a shot of the action, Brits trying to slow up the Soviet invasion force near Andoya before the Americans showed up.

It was a great experience, both rewarding and painful at the same time. Anyone who umpires a H4.1 game is either naïve, insane, or unreasonably dedicated! That said, I could see myself running a scenario with 3-4 ships (none of which are carriers).

The Harpoon Classic portion of the convention was fantastic, with at least a handful of variable start point display bugs fixed in the 32-bit SE (most of which also existed in the 16-bit SE) as well as other 32-bit SE bugs and a GE tweak or two. Thanks to eeustice for keeping me focused, it was great to meet another Harpooner in person!

Great!

This part pleased me particularly:

Anyone who umpires a H4.1 game is either naïve, insane, or unreasonably dedicated!

Obviously I think its the latter. ^_^

I am happy to hear that. :D
