March 6, 201214 yr From Ares A pic showing how similar the Rafale and Typhoon really are in size and planform ... Good to see the 'Tiffies' manoeuvering into the French 6 O'clock position. I think the photo illustrates the common ancestry of these planes back to the days of the original EFA project. I guess had the French got their way and had Dassault lead the design effort then the Eurofighter would have looked very much like the Rafale.
March 6, 201214 yr As I've my own tables about aircraft sizes (for hypothetical RCS and size studies and similar stuff I use as a prominent factor the wing area, and in those two planes is where the difference is bigger), the Typhoon is in overall aspects as a 10% bigger than Rafael: Wing area: Typhoon: 51,2 m2 Rafale: 45,7 m2 Wing span: Typhoon: 10,95 m Rafale: 10,8 m Lenght: Typhoon: 15,96 m Rafale: 15,27 m Height: Typhoon: 5,28 m Rafale: 5,34 m
