December 3, 201015 yr Interesting and apparently serious paper. It's not Dr. Kopp work, but he's named as source (and some strange Russian sources in Spanish!). I think this paper worth a second look tomorrow.
December 3, 201015 yr I enjoyed the read but saw a lot of fear mongering and worst-case assumptions in there. When done it was actually the first time I felt good about the JSF for the USA. F-22 ~ F-15, F-35 ~ F16. The F-16 only had maneuverability when it came out and only carried Sidewinder for AAM. It was massively outclassed in weapons range by many of the supposed opponents. Well, that's where the F-35 is and maybe that's not a bad thing for the US (the cost is an ugly burden though). It probably is bad for other countries who are buying JSF and don't have F-22 and yes, I do wish we'd keep the F-22 line warm and the engineers on the task of constantly updating the electronics and software.
January 13, 201115 yr IMHO - We need to keep the F-22 lines open, and develop upgrades. But if not then pursue Heavily the 6th generation Fighter....
