Not sure if this is a game engine issue or a database issue or something I'm doing wrong, but I am still having trouble with Mavericks. I cannot get the AGM-65Ds or -65Gs to fire from the Block 52 F-16s. As I recall, there was a problem with some weapons that had IR sensors (I think some of the Hellfires had this issue as well) and these are Mavericks that use IR targeting, so it may be a similar problem.

A couple of minor corrections are needed for the MCM Avenger. 1. Crew and displacement are listed as 0. This probably does not affect gameplay, as the ship's damage points are listed, but it looks odd. 2. The ship's sensors only include radar; it does seem to have some kind of sonar system (according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avenger_class_mine_countermeasures_ship), although I don't know whether that would be modeled or not in Harpoon. 3. The ship carries mine the AN/SLQ-48 remotely operated mine disposal system. I'm not sure how this should be modeled in Harpoon, or if it should simply be listed in the descriptive text, etc. ANW HUD 4 v1.11

As a follow-up to my first questions, where would you be allowed to use any of these excuses to stop a ship and engage in a long search (even if the real reason was just to harass the other countries involved)... Are these two variants of the F-15E different enough from the ones already in the database that new platforms should be added? A question... Generally speaking, if you want to really harass or intimidate another nation, without actually blowing stuff up, how do you do it? And how do you model these things in Harpoon ANW? I suppose one way is to create a Recon Ship mission, so that a potentially hostile ship or aircraft will get right up in the face of anything that gets close enough, like merchant traffic, so it can make a solid identification. It might make people think an attack is imminent, but then nothing happens besides the ship getting right up in your face. I suppose another way, although frankly illegal and probably more risky, would be to board and seize merchant ships, claiming they are pirates, or smugglers, or whatever. At the very least, boarding and taking control of the ship for a few days while "questionable cargo," etc. is searched or "evidence of human trafficking" is examined, is a good way to hurt the trade of the enemy nation. I suppose this could be modeled with ASuW Patrol/Boarding-Takeover missions. Now...as I understand it, stopping a ship like this is only legal on the high seas or in one's own territorial waters or one's EEZ. What happens if country A has a warship in country B's EEZ (but not actual territorial waters), claiming "right of innocent passage" to be there, and stops one of country B's merchant ships, claiming it has violated some law? Country A can say that even though it is out of its jurisdiction, it believed a crime was being committed and it acted to stop that crime! It is sorry that it was mistaken and the poor merchant got stopped for two days and is behind schedule now. But slavery, drug trafficking, terrorism, etc. must be stopped! As for getting shot at...actually, Nation A would LOVE to get shot at. After all, if YOU shoot first, you are "the bad guy." But if someone else shoots first, even if it is because you provoked them, you are free to return fire in self-defense. What else can you do, short of actual acts of war, like randomly blowing up fishing boats in international waters? Again, the goal is to do something that will either make the other side miserable (and cost them money through lost trade, etc.) and/or provoke them so they start something, allowing you to slap them down hard and get away with it because you were just acting in self-defense.

My experience has been that the betas run fine. I have not run into any major difficulties. Once in a great while, there will be a freeze or a crash, but it simply does not happen very often. Of course, I may not be the best person to ask. I remember the "bad old days" of H2, where the game was virtually unplayable, at least on my system. Compared to that, any issues that exist with H3/ANW 3.11 and the HUD-4 database seem pretty trivial. I would say the biggest challenge with H3/ANW is that the HUD-4 database is only about 98% perfect. A few weapons don't work right (ASROC, etc.). A number of platforms have the wrong descriptive text. Of course, a lot of these issues are hard to spot because they are, relatively speaking, few and far between. But I try not to get worked up about them. When I find them, it is annoying, of course, but I just report them to Gunny (the database editor) and he takes care of them as quickly as he can.

Minor issues...for the P3126 KNS Nyayo class... 1. The text for the Nyayo seems to be incorrect. The wrong weapons are listed. I might just change this to "Missile boats operated by Kenya." 2.A second database listing may be in order. According to Wikipedia, "Built by Vosper Thornycroft, these are similar to the Omani Province class, and were delivered in 1987....From March 2009 to July 2011 these ships underwent an extensive refit at Fincantieri's Muggiano shipyard in northern Italy, during which their surface-to-surface missile (SSM) systems were removed, effectively reducing the vessels to an OPV configuration." In other words,there would be one listing where they have missiles and another listing where the missile systems have been removed and only the guns remain.

I'm not sure if I reported this or not--I checked but I can't find the posting, although I may have missed it--but there appears to be some errors with the MCM Avenger. Basically, it is a blank listing...the ship has no speed, displacement, sensors, weapons, etc. I imagine this is simply a case where the data was just not entered somehow, or was entered but did not save for some reason, so it should be pretty easy to fix.

It was not just the database date but the files themselves in the zipped archive had Nov. 24 listed as the latest date they were modified. That's what made me think it was the wrong archive...if you've updated the database, the files should be listing December something as the last date they were modified, shouldn't they? And you mentioned that the CVN 80 has been added...but it's not in the database I unzipped. All this makes me think I somehow got the wrong archive. It still may just be something I did wrong somehow, but I would double-check the files, just to be on the safe side.

I mentioned this in another forum, but I figured I would post it here to so that Gunny will see it more quickly...I think the wrong file may have been posted as the HUD-4 update. When I downloaded it, I did not see any changes, and when I checked the zip file, none of the archived files have dates later than Nov. 24. So either I clicked the wrong link by accident (which is certainly possible, but I can't find any other links) or the wrong file got uploaded. I figured I should let Gunny know.

Gunny, I downloaded the updated version but I am not seeing any changes. I'm still having problems with ASROCs, which I know you have been trying to take care of. And the database manager is listing the date on the HUD-4 as Nov. 24. Is it possible the wrong version was posted? Mark Edit...also, when I opened up the zip file I downloaded, none of the files in the archive are dated later than Nov. 24. I think I must have downloaded the wrong file, somehow, so either I just clicked the wrong link somehow or the wrong file got posted as the update.
