Another option, which I have already requested, is to add other rocket/torpedo-type mines...the Russians and the Chinese have both built them, and I believe the Chinese have sold some to Iran. It would be conceivable that Russia or China might sell some other allies, too. They could certainly ruin someone's day! With any luck, they will end up in the HUD-4 eventually.

While it would not be quite as satisfying, one could simulate mine warfare with the Station victory condition...if a mine-laying ship reaches and is on station for a certain amount of time, it has placed its mines and "wins." If a minesweeper reaches and is on station for a certain amount of time, it has swept the area and "wins." Protecting mine warfare ships from air attack, patrol boats, etc. while they are on station could form the basis of some good scenarios.

Thanks! I hope you like the scenario. I use the ANW scenario editor--to be honest, I don't know if 3.6.3 will even work with the HUD-4. My computer says I am running Harpoon 3 Advanced Naval Warfare: H3CA Version 3.10.1.0. (I don't use the 3.11 beta--I'm waiting for the official release--I don't know if running the scenario under 3.11 would create any odd effects.) I haven't seen any odd behavior in the scenario yet, but of course even with a small scenario there are so many variables that I could have missed something. As far as I can tell, the platforms are all operating properly. Thanks again. I look forward to your feedback.

While I doubt it will make much difference, I finally told Herman to put up or shut up, on CombatSim. And while I have no intention of being rude (that is how one gets banned, after all), I am going to be relentless. If he makes an honest, good faith effort to offer constructive criticism (and I know that would surprise some people) and says, "Hey, I tried this scenario and this platform did not work, please let the database editor know," I'll pass the information on to Gunny. But if he just says "Don't try the HUD-4," I'm going to call him on it. He has a right to like or not like the HUD-4. He has a right to say "I don't have time to help." But he does not have a right to interfere with other people enjoying it or making it better.

Jeez, he just doesn't give up, does he? On the bright side, some good may come out of this. There's no way to tell if Herman is being honest about anything related to the HUD-4. Personally, I do not trust him to be honest. But maybe there are issues with the HUD-4 that need to be identified. I'm hoping I can get more people to try out the HUD-4 and, if there are problems, those problems will be identified here on harpgamer so Gunny can deal with them.
