  1. I fled Ent. because I already know what happens when you pit surface forces against carriers. Remember the last time you drove carriers that direction they never came back Anyway, Dewayne sent a CVBG past Wake Island in an attempt to ambush some of my surface ships who were pasting Ent. with bombardments. He did manage to shoot up some transports but I got plenty of those so no worries. The Java battle continues with lots of air activity, today I lost like 34 aircraft to Dewaynes 74 or so. Not bad, not good. I continue to pound on the defenders there. It seems Dewayne has strip-mined India and relocated those forces in Burma. Meaning India is ripe for invasion and there's lots of victory points to go around there. He also sent in some merchant shipping into the Malacca straights but that only got my gunnery crews some much needed experience when they pounded down 3 of the merchies and shotup afew more. Java will eventually fall, by taking my time I drive up his losses and lessen my own. Sincerely Kelly-san
  2. Quick update, it's now the 15th of June and so far it looks like Dewayne intends to fight to the last in Java. He's reinforced with both troops and airpower but that won't change what's going to happen there, perhaps just draw out the battle and drive up his losses Elsewhere we're both moving equipment around and eyeballing each other, waiting for the next big battle. Sincerely Kelly-san
  3. I'm not overly worried about over expansion at this point. I do have a plan and I'm sticking too it, even if it means I die an early death. Besides, I can say the same about Dewayne's expansion too, nothing like full divisions plus attachments sitting around on an island or two waiting for the Japanese to come by and pick them up so they can go build bridges in southeast Asia The battle of Java is reaching it's finale as I lay seige to Soerabaja and begin my offensive in Burma .
  4. I'm rolling right along in Java, shouldn't be too much longer until the big seige at Soerabaja... Else where I continue to pound on Dewayne's intrusions on my Empire, namely Eniwetok Island, I'm not giving these boys a chance to build up that airstrip. Now the big op I launched afew days ago has borne fruit. Noumea has fallen to the Empire as my southern anchor, this should disrupt the flow of supplies to Oz, Efate will fall tomorrow and then it's off to even greener pastures for my forces. Dewayne in the meantime has landed even more forces in the Kuril Island chain but I don't think it's going to go anywhere since he needs to build up that base from scratch so I got alittle bit of time to crush him and add some more 'railroad building' POWs. Have a nice day Sincerely, Kelly-san
  5. I guess my opponent decided that surprises are a two way street and gave me one this turn. He landed another division plus attachments (probably base force or two) at Onnekotan Jima in the Kurial island chain: With him throwing his divisions around like this, I should hopefully be able to complete my main operations without too much interferance. Of course I have no idea where his CV forces are now. It didn't look like the invasion had any air support so he took a big risk and sent them in w/o cover, a very risky thing given what happened to his BB force. The downside is that I usually ignore this area because of the bad weather, which makes flying a real pain (op losses etc). I now have to take a more active role before he lands on one island that's big enough to support 4E bombers which he can blast the Home Islands into ruin. That's about it for this turn, stayed tuned for the next. Should be interesting. Sincerely Kelly-san.
  6. More of the same today. Tilitjap fell today as I speed on down the coast of Java: Other operations continue but due to security considerations I'm unable to speak about them just yet, perhaps in a day or two I'll be able to post them up. Off to the war room for more planning Sincerely Kelly-san
  7. In all due fairness, Dewayne has played an excellent game so far. He's smashed up many transports and bogged down the initial Rabual invasion. He's also taken Marcus Island and Eniwetok and I'm not sure I can get those islands back. Eniwetok presents a real danger to my large base at Kwajalein, which I need to further support operations to the south. I've managed to damage the airfield there up to 75% and shot up some transports (after they dropped off further reinforcements and supply). Right now it's a battle of who's got the initiviate. During the real war, that battle occurred at the 'Canal' starting in August so Dewayne is way ahead of schedule. Sincerely, Kelly
  8. No way I'm 'cleaning up' those black marks Dewayne, though you're more then welcome to send some surface vessels out to investigate. The war continues... Here's the latest from China: Burma: I took Canton Island along with Pago-Pago: Then Espiritu-Santo 'joined' the Empire: Dewayne came back with: Followed by this little beauty: The cost for Dewayne for the loss of Pago-Pago was alot more massive as my CV force ran into a reformed Force Z. I think Dewayne was hoping that I would leave one of my transport fleets unescorted again. Not a chance this far from any friendly bases. The battle was spread over several days and finally ended with my sinking no less then 8 battleships and 1 battlecruiser. Force Z(+) will be annoying me no more. Here's a listing of Allied ships sunk (just the primary ones): All those BBs and the BC were from that single battle, a very nice couple of days for the Empire of the Rising Sun. Batavia fell today and the march down Java has started in full. Dewayne is getting very frisky in the skies over Burma and I'm feeling the pressure up there but have commitments for awhile elsewhere. I am however, drafting a plan to deal with that whole situation once and for all Oops I forgot acouple of areas: and: Sincerely Kelly-san Emperor of a mighty virtual empire and a legend in my own mind
  9. Okay time to speed this up. Dewayne and I clashed again with CVs in the Coral Sea. I just sent a Kiwi Cav Division swimming (He's reinforcing Rabual with parts and pieces from everywhere) and out of the mist came the Yorktown backed up by the armored flight deck British CVs (with very small airgroups). We exchanged airstrikes but I came off the loser this time out. One of my CVLs went to the bottom in short order and took a CVE with it. I did manage to hit the enemy CVs but the bombs bounced off the armor. Dewayne followed this up with further reinforcements to Rabual. He currently has no less then 21 units dug in there battling my starving troops:
  10. Another update: Okay it's the 30 of Dec and my forces storm ashore at Brunei in the Borneo: The hunt for much needed oil and resources is on! Brunei falls the next day along with Lingayen in the PI: Tavoy follows on the 5th of Jan:
  11. If I was the American's I wouldn't be too worried either. Realistically I cannot win this game, no Japanese player can. At best, I just can hope and pray that I can hold out longer then the orginials did and maybe make it alot more costlier. I'll be posting up some more turns here probably tomorrow night and over my weekend (friday and saturday). I'm planning on speeding it up though and getting everyone caught up to the current turn by the time it's all done. Have a good one. Sincerely Kelly
  12. On to Rabaul. This place has become Ironbottom Sound part 2. As you'll see why shortly. The initially assigned forces aren't strong enough to dislodge the Aussies from their base there so I sent in some reinforcements along with a single TF with a battleship for pounding on the base. Then out of the darkness comes a very heavily reinforced Force Z which heads straight in for the transports eek! Here's Force Z composition, well some of them, it's a long list: After shooting up both transport groups Force Z moves after the support group: And so ends my hopes of securing Rabaul anytime soon. I do however, get to end the 29th of Dec on a high note. Slamming the door closed on Singapore: That's all for now. Sincerely Kelly
  13. It's basically setup for one against one, but I've seen the game split up between 3 players on each side. Each taking command of the various regions, they input the orders for their own units then send the turn along to the next player. Speed wise, it's probably better to only play against one other person, but there is also the AI which isn't great but doesn't do too bad a job as the Japanese if you follow the Allied example from the real war. Hope this helps Sincerely Kelly
  14. Fast forward to Dec 29, now this date both Dewayne and myself will remember for it's ups and downs. As I stated my CVBG was looping around the northern corner of Luzon with my tankers trailing along, low and behold Dewayne launches an airstrike near the Philipiine Sea against Saipan or one of my other bases, not sure which. It seems Dewayne is riding to the rescue for the PI with his CVs or he could loop south and pummel Paula which has a decent air presence, it's not enough to stop Dewayne's CVs. I take a deep breath and order my CVBG to full speed and back track around Luzon and charge south toward the last reported position of the American CVs. A CV battle now would be in my best interests since he's only got afew Wildcats in fleet service, the main CAP aircraft will be old Buffaloes. Banzai! One thing to remember is that in CV battles, both sides strike at the same time, but one side has to go first so naturally it's the Allies... My speed run actually took me further south then I intended but it doesn't matter either way. The battle is on. Incoming! At this point I'm starting to get nervous and eyeballing my samurai sword, just incase I need it to do myself in. Allied strike#2 goes in... That sword is starting to look really good now... The sword probably won't hurt that much going in... Hopefully I can pull something out of this disaster... IMG]http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa263/KellyCrawford_2007/CVbattle--JapStrike1goingin.jpg[/img] Not too bad...keep going! Better! A repeat performance! At this point my initial fear is over and my forces are still intact, though the Soryu has seen better days. That actually is an understatement. She's in serious trouble and my other CVs are banged up. Apparently my aircraft weren't done for the day it seems... and still.... My Bettys' from Paula decide to join the fight but there isn't much left to attack at this point... I'll take what I can get! That was the upside to the day, 3 American CVs are toast (Lady Lex, Big E, and the Toga) are now part of history. The downside for the day is coming up next... Stay tuned.
  15. I invaded and took Kuching but not sure on the date. Dewaynes been throwing his air forces at it to keep me honest. But it's time for the next step in the war. I've got several divisions and support units marching overland for Malayasia but I don't want Dewayne to slowly fall back and into Singapore so I opt for an expensive tactic...amphibious landings at Mersing. While keeping the pressure on Kuantan: So far the war has been going pretty much what I figured it would. My mobile strike group (6 CVs are enroute to Saipan to take on some fuel and then cut around the northern corner of Luzon for a trip down by Manila and pay some other bases of Dewaynes a little 'visit'.
  16. Here's acouple of raids on Dewaynes forces in Manila and Singapore. This is followed by an air attack on my naval forces at Khota Bharu: This isn't enough to prevent me from taking the base: In the PI the initial invasion forces take their first objectives: I got to review some more replays and post them up here shortly. Have a good one. Kelly
  17. A little post before I run off to work. The Allies have laid seige to Canton in China, this little move caused me all sorts of heartache. Normally some of the engineers and artillery will march with a inf division down into Hong Kong to support the taking of that city. With Chinese units bombarding Canton, this can't be done. It takes me a long time to finally subdue HK, months and months. Due to the supply and unit placements in China, both sides can go on the offensive when in reality this was a stalemate until later in the war. Dewayne is running a very aggressive forward defense, making me pay with lives and time to take ground. I knew he'd be very hard to battle right from the opening moves and he hasn't let me breath all that much. Force Z escaped into the night from Singapore and I haven't been able to locate it until it makes an appearance usually involving the destruction of some of my naval units as you will see in the next day or two. Sorry for the small update but being Emperor is a full time job. Sincerely Emperor Kelly-san.
  18. Well I got hijacked with babysitting this weekend but I still managed to start scrapping together the information for the beginning of the game. As I said at the top I'm playing the Japanese and went with all the standard opening moves. This was of course, quite stupid of me as you will see. Anyways on to the war. The raid on Pearl Harbor didn't net me any sunk BBs (in this game, the shallow harbour doesn't count so if you sink it, it's gone, no refloating.) Over all it was a bust but it's really a great way to start off a war . Oh...and I brought pics (at least I hope, kinda testing how this works here). Next up the invasion of Wake Island, now here is where not choosing a different scenario (One of them allows you to change up things.) and instead the regular assigned units stormed ashore and promptly got shot up for their trouble. They failed to take Wake Island and I haven't followed up with a second invasion (I was a little busy elsewhere.) In the PI I did come ashore on the opening day in three places: Vigan, Aparri, and Legaspi. Also did a quickie invasion of Batan Island off the northern coast of Luzon. Batan Island was the first to fall in my campaign of 'Liberation'. I got more to cover but I just want to see if the links work for now. Sincerely Emperor Kelly-san
  19. Hello all, I hope you all don't mind me posting up a PBEM game I'm playing against Dewayne Harris. It's not Harpoon but it sure has been an interesting game and I thought I would share it with you. I'm playing the ever peace loving Japanese Empire against the evil Allied Powers. Currently we're up to spring of 1942. However, I will provide all the pertient moves (good and bad) up til then. More to follow....

As the Western economies continued toward collapse, Japan moved forward in its desire to reassert dominance in the Far East. In order to force the United States to relinquish its forward bases in the Pacific, the Japanes military moved into action. A naval and air blockade was placed around Okinawa Island. The US government, backed by strong public opinion, decided to respond with a show of military force. The Japanese, knowing they could not stand toe-to-toe with the US Navy, decided the best option would be to operate within range of their land based aircraft. They hoped that preventing the resupply of Okinawa, and, in the course of maintaining the blockade, inflicting significant losses on the US Navy, would cause the US Government to reconsider their claims on Okinawa.

The Kuril Islands is the setting for this dispute between Russia and Japan. The Russsians invaded the Kurils near the end of World War II and Japan wants these islands back. Neither side has signed a formal peace treaty following the war because of the Kurils Islands. Whenever negotiations take place, Japan brings up the Kurils in an effort to get them returned. So far, the Russians have not yielded, despite their inability to support the Islands. The economic situation of the Kurils and its native, largely Japanese, population is deterioriating as each day passes. This scenario explores one of the options available to the Japanese Government, should political efforts and negotiations continue to fail.
