  2. Is very difficult to find submarines, even with the best planification and patrols (and the bad subs are evading you for sure!). We shall live with it.
  3. I see this apparent little discordance: - Entry 11085 AS.332F 96 has ESM and old HS 312 sonar. - Entry 11086 AS.332F 01 has RWR and advanced FLASH sonar. The ESM and RWR flags should be interchanged (if the later 2001 modification has actually ESM).
  4. Yeah, pros and cons for both. Perhaps the limit should be the minimum damage hit points (Not calculus of warheads here) and group the individual rockets in a minimum damage amount. Also remembering now the PH of unguided individual air-to-ground rockets in WWII was about 0,5, and of air-to-air Mighty Mouse about 1,33%.

  6. Minor modifications 11 February 2017: - Deleted an erroneous unnamed Red air base (ZEa) placed in middle of Siberia! - Code name of afected bases (type ZXx notation) modified in the scenario orders. Spoiler Alert: Spoiler Alert: The historically accurate 4xE-2C Hawkeye 2000 of VAW-115 "Liberty Bells" (now land-based in Iwakumi supporting USMC operations in this scenario), have been replaced by 5xE-2D of VAW-125 "Tigertails", delivered six weeks before the scheduled time.

  8. Update 8 February 2017: - Updated to HCDB2 170207. - Affected Yemeni fighters returned to correct intercept loadout. - USS Mesa Verde replaced by historically correct USS San Antonio (I don't know if is a typo in the original scenario, or some change in the DB). Spoiler Alert: - Yemeni fighters affected are MIG-29SMT, MiG-21MF (AA-2b changed to AA-2d) and F-5E loadout changed to GP.
  9. Update 8 February 2017: - Updated to HCDB2 170207. - Affected Yemeni fighters returned to intercept loadout. - USS Russell replaced by historically correct USS Cole (I don't know if is a typo in the original scenario, or some change in the DB). Spoiler Alert: - Yemeni fighters affected are MIG-29SMT, and F-5E corrected to GP loadout.

  14. File Name: Al Madinah Attack and Makin Island Operations, January 30, 2017. Hypothetical/Historical Scenario. File Submitter: broncepulido File Submitted: 06 Feb 2017 File Category: Middle East Al Madinah Attack and Makin Island Operations, January 30, 2017. Hypothetical/Historical Scenario. A Harpoon Commander's Edition scenario for the EC2003 The Middle East Battleset and the new HCDB2-170207 1980-2025 era Platform Database. This scenario is designed with advanced Scenario Editor and to be run with HCE 2015.008+ or later. Image: Amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD-8) under way off the coast of Southern California with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Sept. 5, 2011. DoD photo by Gunnery Sgt. Scott Dunn, U.S. Marine Corps/Released, and took from Wikipedia Commons. This scenario is designed to be played from the Blue/Saudi/US and Allies side or from the Red/Houthi Rebels and Allies side. You should play a few times first the Blue/Saudi/US and Allies side to avoid spoilers, and only later play the Red/Houthi Rebels and Allies side. With the world on the brink of an open war after four years of impending Second Cold War, just pending the take of possession and first days of mandate of Donald Trump from January, 20, 2017, another repeated point of naval operations interest popped-up again, diverting in the headlines the situation in Eastern Ukraine, with a new intensification of the Russian operations supporting with GRAD rockets bombardment the separatist actions from 31 January 2017 in the Avdiivka sector. After in October 1, 2016, the ex Incat-built very fast (and lightly built) catamaran transport ex Swift (HSV-2), operated by the United Arab Emirates' National Marine Dredging Company (and probably employed in some special operations activities) was attacked and badly damaged by a Houthi Rebels shore-launched C-801 or C-802 anti-ship missile, fired from the coasts of the convolute civil war Yemen, in the Red Sea near the Bad-el-Mandeb strait. The next weeks, on 9 and 12 October 2016 USS Mason (DDG-87) detected and shoot-down or deflects with decoys other attacking missiles. In retaliation, on October 13, 2016, USS Nizte (DDG-94) launched five cruise missiles against Houthis' mobile surface search radars near Ras Isa, North of Mukha, and near Khoka, neutralizing them (Probably of the Russian type Cape-M1E). At last on October 15, 2016, USS Mason detected another last but unconfirmed anti-ship missile attack from the Yemen shore. Also present in the zone were USS San Antonio (LPD-17) and USS Ponce (AFSB(I)-15), equipped with the first experimental and operational shipborne defensive LaWS laser (weapon not yet represented in the simulation). After those events, on January 28, 2017, the fist military operation of the Trump Administration obtained mixed results. A MV-22B tiltrotor raid of SEAL Team 6 operating from USS Makin Island (LHD-8), to capture computers and associated intelligence from AQAP in Houthi territory, Yemen, goes partly wrong, and a MV-22B and the life of Chief Petty Officer William "Ryan" Owens were lost. Also present in the theatre is USS Cole (DDG-67), damaged in the 2000 Al-Qaeda bombing when in the very near port of Aden, and now updated with SM-3 and Ballistic Missile Defence capabilities. Later, on January 30, 2017, an Al-Madinah-class Saudi frigate was attacked and damaged probably by a Houthi suicide boat off Al Hudaydah, Houthi Yemen. This scenario speculates with those elements. The Saudi and US ships should cross Bab-el-Mandeb strait avoiding losses and keeping presence in the zone, blocking the Houthi access to sea lanes and its own enemy shores. Houthi and other Shiite forces should neutralize the enemy ships, trying to multiply his actions through propaganda if any opposition ship is sunk. The historical actions and ships placement are compressed in a shorter period of time. Enrique Mas, February 5, 2017. Click here to download this file

  15. A little inconsistence in the DB (probably original ship entry not updated): - #2402 Burke FltIIA (DDG79/02) lacks 3xSPY-1B to be coherent with the rest of Burkes entries (also I think they should be 4xSPY-1D, not SPY-1B). - The smaller SPY-1F radar (only 1856 elements) has a stated range of 185 nm in HCDB2 (As also reflected in the "Smarter Radars for Harpoon" article), when the other SPY-1 (with more elements, some 4352) have a range of only 175 nm. SPY-1 family are PESA radars. - I think it should be updated to at least 250 nm in SPY-1/A/B/D, as in the "Smarter Radars for Harpoon". - Range of SPY-1D against a 1 m2 target is some 316 nm as cited in German Wikipedia, notes . Probably a 50% more against a big target, perhaps some 474 nm total range (if not, SPY-1 could not intercept ballistic missiles on time, also, is a greatest range than SPS-49, and that can explain why Ticonderogas have SPS-49 and Burkes not). As cited in notes 5 and 6 in https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN/SPY-1 - SPY-1F has AS and HF(3D) flags, I think it should be SS and HF(3D), as the others SPY-1 -Also, SPY-6 in HCDB2 has a range of 250 nm, when in SITREP 50 has a more coherent range of 522 nm. SPY-6 and SPY-3 (range stated as 113 nm in SITREP 50) are AESA radars.
  16. Modification 31 January 2017: - Light modifications to land-based Chinese fighters patrols and loadouts as consequence of advances in HCDB2 (Thanks Brad!). - J-8B replaced by more historically accurate J-8F. - The Su-33M in Liaoning are now replaced by correct J-15, now as in the real world capable of anti-surface loadouts.

  20. Just on time to include the new Mirage 2000-5F 07 in The Red Sea Sharks scenario for the HCDB2. But I see apparently Mirage 2000-5F 99 has Sabre DECM with value 15%, and Mirage 2000-5F 07 generic DECM Gen2 with the inferior value of 10%.
