For today this is just a place holder mostly, but if any of you have any ideas on Vietnam era historical and a historical missions i'd love to hear about them! I've been meaning to get onto this for a while, as I always thought there were too few Vietnam era missions, and the one or two I found were brilliant. I plan to make around 5 historic scenarios, but will extensively research each one, with the help of you guys I hope Also I plan for some 'fun' A-Historic missions, which will be entirely of my own design! For this week I will be researching in main the weapons systems used in the US Advisory Vietnam War era - '63-'65 Notes for research(any ideas for more will be taken into account!) -US/SVN Airforces 1963 -Anti-Air forces VC 1963 -Historical missions and operations involving heavy air support in this era *Idea here, maybe a semi A-historic mission about bombing Diems palace in 1963 (Small scale!) Other ideas -Possible air mobile operations? Using heavily the assault troops in choppers and possibly land forces with the air elements. Also if anyone else planned the same as this, or has done some Vietnam missions already - let me know!

I'm unsure as to whether I should be posting in this thread, but I'm about to try this scenario! Will report on my success and/or utter failure

Is it just me or does this seem to be a diplomatic blunder? Consultation with China at least may have been fruitful, outright ignoring them would only seek to push them closer to North Korea, which is extremely counter-productive. Then again, it is a show of force, not a summit.

Yeah it does start quick, I tried to give a hint of what was to come in the intro text though! At first they were further away, but the missile boats had no chance of success, so I placed them closer to the group and they are more of a threat!

Playing Donaldseadog´s "Hold on Diego Garcia" I´ve the F-35B JSF (RN); loadout Precis-LR is Storm Shadow and Meteor for AAW. So Brad has already inserted this one. Or are you thinking of another variant? Regards, Ralf Well be using F-35C's on our carriers is why he askes, its a pretty academic request as in the game the F-35B is probably identical to C .

You could put E-2D Advanced Hawkeyes instead; they may well turn up on the carrier. Noted on the list, thanks!

I like Harpoon because I like realism, it would be against my nature to defile that by making something TOO gamey

So far its quite a challenge, I often loose a frigate/destroyer to a missile boat. The airforce battle is quite one sided though (however I recently forced the Chinese carrier group to play a larger role - not sure how well they will do!), though I havent tested much with the reduced number of fighters. p.s. I've tried to make this harder rather than easier, so it may need some scaling back yet! and is NOT finished.

First test release. Current plans are: -To reorganise the Chinese carrier group to a more realistic one (needs research) -Add 4 E-2D Advanced Hawkeyes to British Carrier Group -Add some land based missiles for north Korea -Reorganisation of NK airforces + possible increase in numbers -Change carrier loadouts to represent realistic (I.E not all AtA) -Better the briefings/write better storyline -Add merchant ships -Improve Korean land air defence distribution (Only did basic research on Korean SAM defences) More as I think of them/are mentioned! My tests so farhave been extremely easy for us lol the NK currently have about 70 mig21's and 10 Q-5 with anti ship missiles, both of which get absolutely slaughtered. The missile boats dont even get to fire before being detected and destroyed I'm going to find some nice missiles to give them to try and even the odds a bit. *edit In order to make NK have a chance of penetrating the F-35's they would need more than their entire air force to take out 1 carrier. Considering this I believe we need to consider a Chinese assistance scenario

How about something along the lines of British Carrier Group is patrolling off North Korea as part of UN sanctions against North Korea after continued nuclear testing and beligerence toward South Korea. A showdown ensues between the British Task Force and the North Korean Airforce after an F35C patrollling in disputed international airspace refuses to land at a North Korean airbase after being intercepted by NK Migs, the F35C is shot down and so begins retalitory British Air Strikes against SAM sites and the airbase that launched the attack. P.S Maybe throw in some coast based North Korean Surface to Surface missiles the NK military likes to test them! Good idea! they love those sh**ty lil missile boats!

Also for storyline purposes I have to think of what it would be about. Im thinking first off, for some reason the NK air force will launch an attack on the carrier group, then after that I might make a couple of strike missions for the British carriers, probably against missile sites or something.

Agreed Im currently working on that, I might reduce the number of planes on the british side for anti spam if nothing else. Say down to 14 F-35's Overall I want to be outnumbered 5-1, this is a hero naval aviator moment Also, I have given the NK a bunch of better planes, 5 MiG 29's and F7 and 5 Q-5's, they should make the NK more formidible.

Yeah something like that! I guess the biggest issue with a scenario set with a strike against North Korea is do the Chinese get involved.............. For now I've got about 50 Korean planes Ill see how the CV does against them
