  1. oh yeah i missed that one Bah its sommit else.
  2. last 2 years roughly Also ive come up to a prob with the briefing editor, it says incorrect text usage or something. hmm. This is the text.
  3. Anyone have example of a British carrier group composition?
  4. Am liking the ideas! especially the small ones like the Hijacking and Korean submarines will have a play around with the editor and seewhats what
  5. Like the idea, by unit set i mean the battleset? defines the units in the game? Israel vs iran could be interesting. Stage one: Maybe iran develops nuclear weapons, postures against israel, israel send in a deep strike at the reactor site (found by mossad) and try and knock it out. Its not unprecedented though it would be probably possible if USA allowed them through iraqi airspace (and they had refueling planes ready in iraqi airspace). Reactor would probably be well defended/watched due to previous attacks on nuclear site (Iraq) Stage two would probably involve iraq though i dont know how yet.
  6. Ok, I dont know if you guys will like this or hate this, but i'd like to make a scenario with ideas from the forum!!! Both expertise and creativity are needed! So overall we need: Unitset ????? Location Atlantic Iceland Mid east Westpac ????? Backstory ????? Blueforces ????? Redforces ????? Mission objectives/ai waypoints considerations ????? Any ideas? realistic or crazy, all are welcome Any ideas for the location?, I suggest maybe Yemen? Iran?
  7. Any good? ive always been interested in carrier warfare, this sounds to be right up my alley
  8. Take note, as well, that you need precise locations on enemy SAMs to hit them with anti-radar missiles. This is a shortcoming of the current SEAD model (because you should be able to shoot on bearing only in most cases), something that we may be able to eventually remedy. Although not an example of a purely British Royal Navy deployment, the carrier HMS Illustrious deployed for Operation Orion 08 (back in January 2008) with the following British ships: Type 42 destroyer HMS Edinburgh Type 23 frigate HMS Westminster Trafalgar attack submarine HMS Trafalgar Royal Fleet Auxiliaries Wave Knight, Fort Austin, Diligence, and Bayleaf Hunt MCMVs HMS Chiddingfold and Atherstone They were joined by the following ships to form a multinational group: US Navy Arleigh Burke destroyer USS Cole Spanish Navy F100 destroyer SNS Mendez Nunez French Navy Cassard destroyer FS Jean Bart Perfect! thanks.
  9. (This is not counting the suicidal method of flying right over them and "seeing" them only as the pilot takes his last breath) Too often have i resorted to this method Thanks for the detailed answers, I will have to try these new ideas out and see if i can bag me some SAM's Also i wasn't referring to any particular scenario, rather my general incompetence when it comes to SAM dodging/killing While im here, does anyone have any useful sources on modern fleet compositions? specifically which class and type of ships in carrier groups, ive had a little look but i feel the information is embedded inside a more comprehensive document somewhere. Specifically im interested in the British ones, as i am British myself and patriotism is required. Thanks for your time people
  10. Ive had alot of trouble detecting sams, and if i cant detect them i cant use SEAD strikes on them. Also i rarely see a plane avoid a missile, is there some tactics for using some ECM equipment? Or maybe the sams are inside bases or something?
  11. I agree with this guy. Im very new to Harpoon, but i've played both and they are VASTLY different games. Silent hunter has its merit in simulating individual ship operations, where as Harpoon is about entire fleet operations. Both are superb in their own arena, but they are indeed in different arenas. Downside of HCE i believe, is the lack of multiplayer. Some comment on the AI being quite poor, but being as the game is based on scenarios rather than open ended play, it works IMHO very well. There are some minor 'bugs', however these are few and far between. Silent hunter i don't really have any bad to say about it, other than its scope of interest is very small. Btw, hello guys! <-- new to HCE
