Defect: SE Rename Unit crashes SE

Featured Replies

Little did I know there was even a Rename Unit command in the SE.

Anyway, I tried to rename the Blue airfield in WestPac 1.0 and the SE crashed with a GetAnnex error.

For now I'd suggest not using the Rename Unit with non ship/sub units but maybe there is hope to enable renaming since the UI already exists (as does the data structure).

Out of curiosity mostly, I tried to use the Rename Unit command, including the example you mentioned.

The menu choice is there, but it's grayed out no matter what unit I tried to use it on.

You were probably in the Group window, not the Unit window where you need to be to rename units.

That certainly explains that. Maybe since a surface or sub group consists of classes of units with more than one name per class, as opposed to land bases which are pretty much either there or not there, would explain the difference.

By that I mean that a sub group consisting of one LA Class submarine has several options as to which actual submarine it is, whereas the AFB at Yokota, for instance, doesn't have that sort of variable.

In that case, it seems it would be less frustrating to the player if the option were simply unavailable where it is inappropriate, as opposed to resulting in one of those cryptic error messages.

Just an observation.
