The BAE Systems Tempest is a proposed sixth-generation fighter aircraft that is under development in the United Kingdom for the Royal Air Force (RAF). The aircraft is intended to enter service from 2035, gradually replacing the Eurofighter Typhoon. It is being developed as part of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) programme by a consortium known as Team Tempest, which includes the Ministry of Defence, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Leonardo, and MBDA UK. £2 billion is planned to be spent by the British government on the initial phase of the project up to 2025. https://www.defensenews.com/global/europe/2023/02/10/wallace-urges-italy-japan-to-stick-with-just-launch…

With a lot of new drone and autonomous weapons it seems to me (once we get back to modernising DBs in some way) that the line between platform and weapon is becoming difficult to decide. Also there is the decision on whether to create single generic items or create a pletherer of individual. Here's what hot my thinking about it (I know infact it's not a new delema) seen in current events https://defence-blog.com/xdown-develops-stud-drone-for-squad-level-strikes/

JS Taigei (SS-513) is the first boat of the Taigei-class attack submarine of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. The submarine was ordered from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 2017 and laid down on 16 March 2018 at Kobe, Japan. Taigei was launched on 14 October 2020 and commissioned on 9 March 2022. The hull design of the Taigei class is said to not differ too much from the operational Sōryū class but will be 100 tons heavier than its predecessor. However, the Taigei-class submarines will be more advanced as they are equipped with newer equipment such as sonar systems, snorkel power generation system. The Taigei class will use lithium-ion batteries much like JS Ōryū an…

In 2015 the Japanese defense budget allocated funds to study the construction of a new "compact-type hull destroyer with additional multi-functional capabilities" as well as a new radar system for the destroyer. In the same year Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) unveiled the frigate's first concept model (30FF) which they had been developing with their own funds. The new ship is set to replace the Asagiri-class destroyers and Abukuma-class destroyer escorts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mogami-class_frigate View full record

I have been playing with some extended range naval guns and found in the HCDB2 DB three versions of Vulcano extended range 5" munition. see https://electronics.leonardo.com/documents/16277707/0/Vulcano+127.pdf?t=1671440934942 In HC terms two are Guns, one is a missile (speed about 2200 kts). When I used the missile I thought 'wow, so slow', but then when I started to think about it the speed was quite correct and more realistic than the instant gun hit (or miss), so I started to wonder for long range artillery should we use 'missile' and not 'gun' weapons? I'm interested in the new Kingfisher concept for ASW including the delivery of small depth charge and …

South Korean fighter aircraft development program, with Indonesian involvement, with the goal of producing an advanced multirole fighter for the South Korean and Indonesian air forces. The airframe is stealthier than any fourth-generation fighters, but does not carry weapons in internal bays like fifth-generation fighters, though internal bays may be introduced later in development. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KAI_KF-21_Boramae https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/south-koreas-kf-21-homegrown-advanced-fighter-just-took-to-the-air View full record
