Two items stand out in naval history on today's date. First, the destruction of the Royal Navy's battlecruiser HMS Hood at the hands of the Nazi battleship Bismarck, on 24 May 1941. And, the rescue of 33 sailors from the sunken USS Squalus, on 24 May 1939:

  4. I saw very scarce publications and with few data about naval decoy launchers evolution and history. This page probably has interest about the topic, and yes, now the automatic translators do well his job and almost anything is understable later. http://www.mdc.idv.tw/mdc/navy/usanavy/E-countermeasure-SRBOC.htm I used this translator in the site of the Spain most popular newspaper, but it is probably the versión of any other of common use, and I think you can use also any other: http://servicios.elpais.com/traductor/?sl=es&tl=zh-CHS&slurl=es&tlurl=zh-CHS

  6. The use of drones is on the media headlines from 2002, but they were in the aviation history from his very begin. A few known fact is they were extensively used in the Vietnam War. As instance, at least 578 were lost over North Vietnam and China between 1964-1975. A very interesting report about it of ACIG here: http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_344.shtml

  11. Digesting the new planes in the DB. I think these sites are worth of mention: About the Buccaneer, SAAF and other SA planes (on this site they're great ideas and data for the DB. The data values I think were obtained directly of the SAAF, and illustrated some obscure data no habitually represented): http://www.saairforce.co.za/the-airforce/a...uccaneer-s-mk50 IPMS of South Africa: http://img.ipmssa.za.org/index.php/knowled...neer-smk50-saaf Splendid site about the Buccaneer: http://www.blackburn-buccaneer.co.uk/0_Contents.html

A curious site with a lot of cruise books. Perousing in the commisioning or cruise books you can sometimes find valuable or unknown data, but regrettably very few times (Recently I saw in a commisioning book of HMS Eagle she was equipped with a multipurpose Sonar 184 (also for torpedo avoidance) from the 1964 refit, and I suppose also HMS Ark Royal from the 1964 refit). These sonars are not listed in any database, and probably them were previously equipped with Sonar 132 or other passive torpedo avoidance sonar, as the other big British warships. http://www.axfordsabode.org.uk/comishbk.htm As example http://www.axfordsabode.org.uk/pdf-docs/arkroy10.pdf were we can see…

Apparently a little more serious than other Russian sites, including fighter bases. Also, I almost don't feel as strange to brownse in Russian sites easily without known Russian language (And my region in Spain is full of Russian inmigrants, it's usual for me to hear Russian daily, and it's a sweet tongue, perhaps some day I would understand it ...): http://tu-128.ru/
