Blackburn Buccaneer and South African Air Force links

Digesting the new planes in the DB.

I think these sites are worth of mention:

About the Buccaneer, SAAF and other SA planes (on this site they're great ideas and data for the DB. The data values I think were obtained directly of the SAAF, and illustrated some obscure data no habitually represented):

IPMS of South Africa:

Splendid site about the Buccaneer:

You know, it makes me deeply unhappy that the only people who we sold such a great aircraft to were a bunch of racists.

I supposed it. Also, I see the IPMS South Africa branch has only 15 years, founded only after the apartheid ....

I was not convienced about the Buccaneer's Blue Parrot radar range of only 25 nm, when older SS search radars have a far superior range.

If we accept as valid this text, we can change his range to 180 nm for the Buccaneer S.1:

And some 190-240 nm range for the Buccaneer S.2/50:

I will admit to being skeptical about the 25 nm figure as well, especially given the link between Buccaneer and the Sea Eagle missile, but it was what the H4 annex was saying at the time I created the entry. As you well know, a DB is always a work in progress and I would suggest putting your research in front of the gurus and seeing what they say. I think you're subscribed to the appropriate Yahoo groups?

The gurus sayed: "That gives ranges of 240/180/102/58/32 for Large/Medium/Small/VSmall/Stealthy".

It will be probably published in October 2013 SITREP

;)
