Hi

this is an attempt to create a db for the old times when missiles were not the most important weapon....

The last changes to HCE make this possible....

It is a derivate/follow on of the merged Euro and Atlantic DB, therefore it is covering 90% of the world´s navys

It is still at a Beta Stage, so you can expect errors, faults and changes.... :rolleyes:B)

So all scen designers are welcome to create scens for this db.

Fixed some crashes with faulty Loadouts and mounts....

A little comment on the naming convention for all entries

an (x) before the name marks hypothetical entries that never became operational.

the timetag after the name indicates the ioc date for a unit...

(1964) unit enterd service in 1964

(1970-80) unit /version for 1970 to 80

(-1970) unit retired in 1970

those dates are only a hint/help for scen designers not a fixed "law"

Special Thanks to Gordon Rottman for providing help and data about the Korean Navys during the Korean War

Some notes about the planes in the 50to65 DB:

The warplanes in this Data Base are basically my work and my possible fault !!!

I was raised reading about these planes of this time period in the Popular Mechanics magazine, purchased some years earlier by my father (the old man purchased the 1947-1957 magazines near 1966). Somehow I grew with these planes, and was a time period of very great and revolutionary advances and but only now I can appreciate them entirely and produce this small tribute to them, to the people who designed them, those who constructed them, those who maintained them, those who flew them, and those who dreamed about them.

Now the Cold war is over for near twenty years, and now we known a lot about those old and almost forgetted planes, their weapons and electronic systems than 15 years ago, and with a lot of declassification and clarification about his performances and characteristics.

I’m particularly proud of my research about ASW planes and sonobuoys, about airguns, about the B-52 and other planes ECM, and also about rare soviet/russian planes, and about other more or less knowed types that will join to the database in due time.

But I consider necessarily to write these small notes on the topic:

Added flag codes in the text description, for sake of playability. No more necesity to open the DB playing a game for known if a plane is or not Inflight refuelling or Nap of Earth capable !

Planes data are based in independent research, only subsidiarily in Harpoon Annex data.

FLIR are used also to represent other detection or illumination technics, as optical cameras (in recconaisance planes), searchlights, or flares in night interdictors.

Generally, ESM Level 1 are represented by RWR, ESM Level 2 are represented by ESM, and ESM Level 3 are represented by RWR+ESM.

ESM also can represent extensive communications suites in airborne command post and similar planes.

Height bands are only indicative and aproximative, Very High can change with the period and performance of the planes, and so is represented in my DB. Usually for me High is 7500m-14500m, and Very High 14500m+ (reserved basically for bisonic fighters with variable geometry intake, and some curious types, as MiG-19 and U-2, by sake of very diverse designs).

The in-service years are indicative, and basically refered to front line squadron service, not to isolated planes used in ancillary tasks, as target-tug or liaison.

The planes without yy or xx sufixe on his name are completly finished, also with text description (as in B-52G Phase II/III Stratofortress (1961-1963) )

The planes with yy sufixe are completely finished and are technical and historically verified, but yet without text description (as in Yak-28P Firebar-A(early)(1964-1967)yy )

The planes with xx sufixe on his name are verified as playables and also are the corresponding guns added, but without fine historical or technical verification of all his data (as in F-84F Thunderstreak (1956-1966)xx )

:D
