pmaidhof Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 A veritable plethora of information be found here. Tony, please explain to the class what a plethora is. Quote
TonyE Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 Okay class, see secondary entry... Main Entry: pleth·o·ra Pronunciation: 'ple-th&-r& Function: noun Etymology: Medieval Latin, from Greek plEthOra, literally, fullness, from plEthein to be full -- more at FULL 1 : a bodily condition characterized by an excess of blood and marked by turgescence and a florid complexion 2 : EXCESS, SUPERFLUITY; also : PROFUSION, ABUNDANCE - ple·tho·ric /pl&-'thor-ik, ple-, -'thär-; 'ple-th&-rik/ adjective Thank you Merriam-Webster for the assist Quote
CV32 Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 Ooh, ooh ... I know this one ! Can I answer in an example ? Everytime the gang plays SH3, CV32 sinks a "plethora" of ships ! (CV32 slams the hatch shut, and orders a crash dive). Quote
pmaidhof Posted June 1, 2006 Author Report Posted June 1, 2006 Everytime the gang plays SH3, CV32 sinks a "plethora" of ships ! (CV32 slams the hatch shut, and orders a crash dive). So let me make sure I understand what you are trying to say completely Brad. While you sink a plethora of ships, Tony A.K.A "McHale's Navy" watches intently. I'm glad you explained that so well. Thank you. Quote
TonyE Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 The normal HarpGamer SH3 cruise... Brains hosts so that he gets the little detection meter, for some reason only the hosting party gets that great assist. Tony tears off towards the target group at way too high of a speed. Brad slides in towards the convoy, attracting no attention. Brains despite making little or no noise attracts all of the escorts, sinks half of them. Tony lets loose a few torps at the convoy, the other guys follow suit. Brains, despite making little or no noise attracts all of the escorts and any planes nearby, sinks/shoots down half of them. Tony gets sunk on the first depth charge run of any suitably poor escort such as an armed trawler. Brad slips away unharmed Brains manages to escape battered but unbelievably, and I mean unbelievably alive and kicking. End result: Brad or Tony with most merchant tonnage, Brains with escort tonnage and some merchant. Quote

CV32 Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 Actually, Tony's quite an aggressive sub skipper, and gets plenty of kills, even if it gets him sunk in the process. Brains, on the other hand, seems to enjoy tangling with the escorts. Me ... I like to sink merchies and try to avoid tin cans like the plague. We really ravaged a convoy last evening, sinking 20 of about 30 merchies. Quote
pmaidhof Posted June 2, 2006 Author Report Posted June 2, 2006 Actually, Tony's quite an aggressive sub skipper, and gets plenty of kills, even if it gets him sunk in the process. Just stirring the pot, something I've been told I'm good at. Quote
CV32 Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 Just stirring the pot, something I've been told I'm good at. Not bad ... but you've a ways to go before you can unseat ole Herm. (Of course, I don't think we could handle two of you). Quote
Brains Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 It isn't so much that I like tangling with the escorts, but it is like the song says: If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with... Quote
