May 18, 200620 yr And the Oilers advance ... and the Canadians cheer the American national anthem anyway ... we're such good sports. Oilers advance to Western final
May 18, 200620 yr Author Go Oilers! While I can claim ignorance on the booing of the Canadian National Anthem having only heard about third-hand, the perpetrators should have been escorted immediately from the facility. They would claim freedom of speech and some ACLU lawyer would represent them. While one has the right to say just about everything and anything, I do not believe that you have the right to display the true depths of your ignorance in a public forum such as that. If I can offer an excuse, it would simply be that I consider the vast amount of their (Californians) ideas, values and proposals to be repugnant. These people probably could tell you why they booed in the first place - "Duh, I'm not supposed to boo?" Boo the opposing team until your vocal cords fall out - have at it. The NHL should fine the team, if not revoke their franchise. I'm glad they lost, the low-rent malcreants. True hockey fans know at least the first verse of the Canadian National Anthem, hey unfortunately many Americans can not complete even the United States National Anthem. O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard...for....theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. It's a beautiful anthem.
May 18, 200620 yr Thanks, Pete. No need to feel apologetic for the anthem incident. They were, as you point out, Californians. Also, they're hockey fans, whom are known everywhere as somewhat unrefined examples of sports fans. LOL. Could be a good playoffs after all.
May 24, 200619 yr Here's an article about the unlikely teams which are now vying for the Cup: The Final Four: Good for the Game ?
June 2, 200619 yr Author So there we have it, Edmonton and Carolina. An interesting aside that I heard on a sports radio station this morning was that we should not believe the official NHL hype that the new labor agreement leveled the playing field for the small market organIzations to be able to compete, if you remember back to the last Lord's Stanley Cup Finals participants included not the New York Rangers, or the Chicago Blackhawks, or the boston Bruins, but Tampa Bay Lightning v. Calgary Flames.
June 6, 200619 yr Author Wow, Oilers had that game in hand then lost the bubble. What was the score when Roloson got injured? Now he's out for the series and the backup goalie made the gaff with 31.1 left to allow Brind'Amour the virtual open netter. Let's see if McTavish (ah the 1994 Rangers) can pull these guys back togather and make this a series.
June 6, 200619 yr Wow, Oilers had that game in hand then lost the bubble. What was the score when Roloson got injured? 4-4 when Roloson left the game. Canes scored with less than a minute remaining. Now he's out for the series and the backup goalie made the gaff with 31.1 left to allow Brind'Amour the virtual open netter. Let's see if McTavish (ah the 1994 Rangers) can pull these guys back togather and make this a series. I gotta tell ya, with Roloson gone, all bets are off.

June 15, 200619 yr Oilers prevent Carolina celebration It ain't over yet ! My nerves are shot, but it is some pretty exciting hockey, no ?
June 15, 200619 yr Author Overtime, short-handed, facing elimination, all previous opponent's goals were on powerplay - so score short-handed..., that was easy.
