Hi All,

Thanks to Tony, Don and Eric for working on the next update. Lots of enthusiastic chat on Discord. 

Question - any insight on how weather affects the performance of aircraft and weapons?  I'm working on a planning tool and trying to figure out if I should degrade estimates for hit percentage or range.

For some reason I'm thinking that the weather systems do no more than put graphics on the group window. Maybe it's just a thing for future development?

 

Thanks Don. I see weather systems pop up from time to time but it's difficult to test performance as it's not possible to predict the weather. ⛈️ 🙂

I thinkit's pretty harmless weather like we get in australia, none of this awful blizzard stuff that most of the northern hemi seems to like, I assume they like it or they'd move to australia

 

Finally got to this!  I did research it long ago during an IRC chat, see the below and feel free to ask additional question.

 

summer, winter, fall , spring , times of the year annex N PRH3 are these in play.

Seasons are not in play and neither is the spherical Earth concept!  The weather model thinks there are no timezones and the sun always rises at the same UTC no matter where you are on the planet, hence flat Earth.  For navigation the Earth is spherical but flat Earth all the way for weather.

So the Battleset seeds a weather centre/cell/formation on Flat Earth, on which it moves,grows,dies. This centre/cell/formation then generates weather reports for the groups and formations on the spherical Earth.

That is correct!  Some enterprising AddOn developer could allow creating, modifying, killing off storms, would be nice to see a typhoon or three in the Pacific.
