May 6, 2025May 6 Finally picked up a copy of this one, and ran a couple of the stock scenarios. Seems fairly intuitive, but no doubt experience with Harpoon and CMO has helped. I think I would like to try scenario building in due course.
May 7, 2025May 7 Author I nabbed a copy near the end of April. I haven't picked up the controls very well but did manage to get a couple of Harpoons to hit the enemy. I'll probably be happier once I figure out how to turn off the 3D display. I could maximize the map but from the computer load it seemed to still be cranking away on the visuals behind the scenes. Anyway, definite potential imho.
May 22, 2025May 22 I had to laugh when I saw your comment on Sea Power. I think for most people who buy it the 3D view is the whole point of the game. ("Ooo! Pretty ships! Explosions!" 🙂 In fairness, the ship models, etc. do look beautiful.) I haven't picked it up yet, but I've watched a bunch of videos on YouTube about it. It looks fun, but I suspect it does not go into as much detail as Harpoon and Command do. I understand there is a very healthy mod community, which I think will make the game very exciting for a lot of players, although there is the issue that some of the people making new ships, etc. may not really know how to model them accurately in terms of sensors, detection, etc. I'll be very interested in hearing what you and other long time Harpoon players think of it.
July 23, 2025Jul 23 I watch a few people play it on youtube and it's not at the standard I require to play it instead of just playing Harpoon. The constant bugs players get trying to engage units, the AI being extremely passive and general & weird bugs put me off. I saw one guy had his carrier neutralised by a plane that had become a submarine and thus refused to land, preventing takeoff & landing.
