Okay I give up trying to continually adapt my new computer or components to run harpoon (classic, ultimate, etc). 

I am committed to a standalone old computer for just games like this.   

Can someone tell me the ideal old computer (hardware, software, video, etc to buy on some recycle site.  Please be specific and if you know of sites that sell such complete systems, please add

What issue are you having with the Installation of HCE?

The Ultimate version should work with any modern PC including Win 10 64 bit.

The Beta updates available on this forum even have an update so the the Scenario Editor will work with Win 10 64 bit.

I had not tried ultimate edition - works on Win 10?  How big is the download

 

The full download is 665,600 KB

One thing I wanted to ask you in my original message is if you tried to do the installation using  "Run as an Administrator. "

You will get a Serial Number not valid message if you need to install or run HCE.

 

 

 

I didnt have ultimate edition - i am on line now trying to buy it

Yes.

TonyE is the remaining programmer for Harpoon.

He is still updating HCE when we find bugs in the software. He is trying to make some enhancements to the HCE interface.

There are a group of dedicated long time players that help out when necessary. This is all voluntary as is TonyE's bug fixes and enhancements. We do it for the love of the game. I have been playing Harpoon since the days of the 5 1/4 floppy disk.

I am usually in the Harpgamer Chat room if you have a Irc client. I tried to get the link to the free iRC chat room  that TonyE had on the Harpgamer web site but the link doesn't work.

Let us know if you need help with setting that up.

My first suggestion will be to stop trying to get that purchase to work.  I'll be e-mailing you a link to an installer with a temporary license for you to validate you want to buy a copy.
