May 27, 200817 yr Hi Brad or Tony I am a long time user and editor of Harpoon games from days 360 of Both types , I just restarted when I purchased HCE about a month ago , I was modifying the HCDB-080122 for my own use, I wanted a database with just a few countries (UK France Germany Italy INT Russia USA Canada and maybe Spain ) after I deleted some entries and tried a scenario it said there are no names for that class ie: I was adding a mobile AD site to a Russian Airbase so I add a different Sam and loaded the scenario and it the game Crashed , my question is are you able to delete platforms you are not going to need ? and another question is there a way like in Harpoon 3 database editor to export platforms . Thanks Terry and BTW thanks for a great update
May 27, 200817 yr ... after I deleted some entries ... Undoubtedly this is the source of your troubles. Deleting entries invariably leads to chaos. Have you seen the HCE DB Editing Guide?

Hi Yes I have seen the guide , I was just is there a way to have a smaller database with just the platforms I need for what I was doing ? in the Harpoon 3 pre Matrix version I have been able to change the DB by deleting the entries I did not need. Thanks Terry
May 27, 200817 yr Yes I have seen the guide , I was just is there a way to have a smaller database with just the platforms I need for what I was doing ? in the Harpoon 3 pre Matrix version I have been able to change the DB by deleting the entries I did not need. Thanks Terry Yes off course, there´s a way to get a smaller db. Delete all unneeded entries (units and installations) and go trough the Annexnumbers and delete the last /highest numbers until you have a db without gaps. going this way you get a small db but it will be no longer compatible with Stuff written with the official DB. Other Way, delete the unneeded Stuff and fill the gaps with "donotuse" entries belongig to a fictional country for example country xxx. In this way you get scens that will play with your custom db and the official DB. The only rule to keep in mind: NO GAPS allowed! Regards René
May 27, 200817 yr Take care if you follow Rene's approach there, it will only work for annexes whose entries are not used by other higher level annexes. So it will work for installations, ships, subs, and planes, but it won't work for weapons, magazines, mounts, etc.

Regards René Thanks René I will give it a try I usually keep multitable copies of the database for various scenarios. Terry

May 28, 200817 yr Thanks Tony Yes I know about the other annexes , is there way to export from the database ? Terry Can you clarify what you mean by export? Or what you are trying to accomplish during this export?
May 28, 200817 yr Author Thanks Tony Yes I know about the other annexes , is there way to export from the database ? Terry Can you clarify what you mean by export? Or what you are trying to accomplish during this export? In Harpoon 3 db editor you are able to export an entire platform, including magazines, mounts etc , so you can save custom platforms and then re import to a new database with out re-typing the platform . Terry
May 28, 200817 yr No, there is no built in function to do that single platform export in HC. It will probably be up to third parties to contribute such functionality (though I've suggested I would provide assistance as needed). There should also be some database structure changes in the long term that may make exporting and importing platforms easier.

Thanks tony for your reply I and your assistance all I can hope that some one does add such a functionality in the future , I have edited a database to have less platforms in it it worked and I am working on a custom scenario . Thanks again Terry
May 29, 200817 yr I don't know if this helps, but I have been able to create a new platform from "the ground up" and successfully export it and use it in a scenario. As a matter of fact, prior to it's inclusion in the DB, I created the USS Midway this way and had extensive help from the group in recreating the airwing.
