UI Scaling - Text, strong colors..

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I'm new here :) I had to register here for future conversations and the following question:

My eyes are not liking the strong map Colors or circles which are getting almost invisible... Is there some way to the colors of the water?

The most important thing:

The UI Scaling. Is there such function or a Workaround to have a bigger text and bigger symbols? It's everything just small and hurting my eye. Please give me some advise how to make thing's smooth for my HUCE Combat Ready Status :)

Greetings,

Cabal

Welcome,

There is nothing within the game to help with scaling. All I can suggest there is lowering the resolution of one of your displays while playing Harpoon so that it appears larger.

As for colors, check out the Settings\Game Options menu item. You can choose between some pre-set color options there.

Thank you Tony! It did it.

Now I ran into a second question regarding the controls. Playing the ASW Sortie in the GIUK Battleset (3rd Scenario), I place my choppers for ASW at about the outmost rings, but what I encounter is that all subs are passing through at ease without any problems and destroy my creeping ships from within the group. I don't even know if my units try to evade torpedoes because the "formation is just everything".

EDIT: Ok, I split the group and could get a fix on the targets and attack them. But:

The only question remains why I couldn't find the subs much more earlier... I feel absolutely not confident with ASW.. I set my choppers to patrol at about 12-16nm in a sector logically to intercept contacts. But they can't find them.. it's hard to spot them.

I sank several Juliets, one Kilo (the other one I do not remember) and got the mission completed. But I'm still clueless finding the enemy subs.

Hunting submarines is very labor intensive. I'm hoping someone else steps in with recommendations but I'll get to it eventually if not!

Is very difficult to find submarines, even with the best planification and patrols (and the bad subs are evading you for sure!). We shall live with it.

I'd suggest reading the Shakedown series on ASW firstly, and then the game mechanics.

Once that starts sinking in, I'll suggest you manually plot your ASW aircraft paths, only drop torpedoes manually (the AI tends to drop them too far from the enemy submarine), and monitor sonobuoy loads, replacing the aircraft as they run out of buoys.

When I send my ASW helos towards a suspected goblin contact manually, will they automatically deploy their sonar (if they manually reached their target and their altidude is set to the lowest) or only when I assign them to a ASW mission?

Sorry for so much questions guys, I'm eager to get it done good :)

I will check out the Shakedown series, though ASW in HCE is excactly what I could need right now to properly proceed with the tactics.

Sensors like sonobuoys and dipping sonar will only automatically deploy as part of an autonomous search if you have set them up in a formation patrol (that is, within the formation of a ship group of shore base). Otherwise, you have to do it manually.

Excactly that is interesting: "Otherwise, you have to do it manually."

What do I need to know to do it manually?

Basically you should to manoeuvre manually and individualy each ASW helicopter or aircraft in range over the enemy submarine estimated position. Both to accurately find her position (usually stopping the ASW platform over the estimate submarine position, as a sonobuoy will be dropped or a dipping sonar will be lowered), and later, to lauch torpedoes (in few cases deep charges) against the enemy submarine, positioning your ASW platform the nearest possible to the enemy submarine.
