Patching HCE to use the 32 bit SE

Featured Replies

Okay, I admit it. I was born before the Korean War started but I still enjoy these games...when I can get them to work. I am playing HCE for a change and am patched to

2009.050 on a Windows 10 system. Everything works but the scenario editor. I have read everything on this site I think but I cant figure out how to 1] Get the SE to function and 2] Patch the game to its most current version. Any help would be appreciated. I have gotten great assistance here in the past. Thank You

Welcome back!

There is a version of the Scenario Editor that will work with Windows 10.

The instructions for upgrading to the latest version of HC is below.

http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/topic/2049-current-files/

Below is the file name in the HC directory for the Scenario Editor that works in Windows 10 will be in your HC directory:

HUC Wscenedt32

HC 2016.010 is the latest version of HC. This is a work in progress. TonyE is working on getting air groups to change altitudes more realistically. He is working on sub's changing depths more realistically too.

HC 2016.003 is the last stable version of HC.

If you have any questions please let us know.

Happy Harpooning!

Okay...thanks for the reply but I still have questions. First, that filename ie HUC Wscenedit is not in my HCE setup now so I assume I will find it in HC 2016.003? Where do I download HC 2016.003?

Are there other updates that need to be installed between 2009.050 and 2016.003?

I said up front I read most of the relevant items on the site but I sure didn't understand them... Thanks for the help

TonyE's instructions are as follows:

Start with your 2015.027 patched HUCE from Matrix.

Click on the link below to Matrix Games for 2015.027:

http://www.matrixgames.com/products/392/downloads/

To upgrade to HC2016.003 click on the link below:

http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/topic/2049-current-files/

You will download a Zip file. Unzip it in your HCE Directory and then run the installer file.

This will update your HC and add the new SE to your HC directory.

If you have any questions pleas let us know.

Good Luck,

Eric

Got 2015.027 downloaded but it wouldn't install because I don't have HUCE installed. I'm at HCE 2009.050...

Hummmm. I copied and pasted TonyE's instructions into my message from the forum.

This is the link on the Forum where Tony has the Version Updates:

http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/topic/17623-hc-versionsupdates/

I don't have HCR on this PC. I am going to look at one of my older PC's to see if I have HCE installed on it.

I don't know what I am missing.

If I figure out what I did wrong I will let you know. It's got to be something simple.

I'm sure Tony has seen your posts and since I can't figure it out he will chime in and get us straightened out!

Eric

I did find an older Laptop that has HCE on it but didn't have the 2015.027 on it.

I downloaded the 2015.027 update and tried to install it. The default install directory was:

C:/Matrix/HUCE

I changed the default install directory in the update to:

C:/Matrix/HCE Where my HCE was originally installed, and was able to install the update.

Please let me know if that works.

I'm an analog guy trapped in a digital world... Thanks for your help!

I am playing HCE for a change and am patched to

2009.050 on a Windows 10 system. Everything works but the scenario editor.

On this one you are caught by a technicality.

There is a statement on the newest files here, "Start with your 2015.027 patched HUCE from Matrix."

http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/topic/2049-current-files

In short, that means HCE can no longer officially be patched up to current. There is a tiny chance that tonight I'll try unofficially patching HCE to a place where it can use the 32-bit SE. If you don't see a reply back tomorrow, knock on my door again please.

OK Tony: I appreciate your efforts. Thanks

Okay, I gave it a try. From HCE 2009.050 I skipped 2015.027 from Matrix and went straight to 2016.010 from here at HarpGamer. Finally I installed 2016.003 to get back to a stable GE (Game Engine).

Now to run the 32-bit SE, use Windows Explorer to go to your HCE directory (look in C:\Matrix Games\...). Double-click Wscenedt32 and you should be good to go.

With this arrangement you won't have the newest PE (Platform Editor) and some other tidbits but I think the GE and SE will work fine.

Holler back if you need more help after this.
