I have the boardgame Harpoon Data Annex 1991 by GDW.

For many times, in the past, I tried to play it (alone), but, after a positive test of the scenario-tutorial (USA Kinkaids vs. 2 Libyan OSA II), I had to give up with more complex scenarios, because of the "monstrous" difficulties in managing the rules of the game ...

Now I see in this forum, that there is a version of Harpoon 4 Paper Rules and by the relatives AARs it seems to me that the two versions are quite similar.

So I ask:

- Wherein lie the differences, only an update of the DATA ANNEX or even changes in the rules of the game (hopefully simpler ...!? but I don' think so...)

- How do I update my version, of course, without having to buy back the whole game?

- There is a possibility, since I'm already a "regular user of Harpoon" to download the ultimate documents (I think DATA ANNEX and Games rules), maybe sharing them with some users.

The current rules are much different than what you have. They are quite a bit more complex. The data annexes are also very different. You cannot update to the current without buying the game anew.

 

You can take a look at http://www.wargamevault.comfor some pricing (Admiralty Trilogy Group is the publisher). I don't see the rulebook there, maybe someone else can point it out. You would be looking at the H4.1 rules, then the High Tide Annex and Scenario books by default.

I have gone to wargamevault, but my search with "Harpoon","H4.1 rules", High Tide Annex and Scenario Book has had no answer...

Harpoon series is waiting to be updated and digitallized (I think).
