February 9, 201511 yr The Eyes of the Future RN Carrier Strike Force (Defense Update) excerpt However, Lockheed Martin claims the added capabilities offered by the AESA radar and Vigilance systems far outpace the performance of current systems used on the Sea King ASaC.7. For example, the new system, based on the AESA multi-mission staring arrays has generated a radar picture in 120 seconds, compared to 40 minutes on rotating systems such as existing Sea King ASaC.7 or E-2C. Something I haven't seen modeled in any sim/game.
February 10, 201511 yr I think must be some type of errour, or to obtain a very sharpened radar image (and useless because the 40 minutes of exposition to capture the target in image!!!).
February 11, 201511 yr Yes, it must be to de-conflict multiple tracks and determine as much information as possible about the target. That or to wait for the coffee break to end.
February 11, 201511 yr Author Time to build and process the radar picture. Limitations of computing power and a mechanically scanned array. Lockheed Martin rolls out Crowsnest solution (Jane's) With Israeli EL/M-2052 radar.
