Graphical weapon range circle is to big

Featured Replies

Defect Name: Graphical weapon range circle is to big

Build: HCE 2007.000 & 028 GE

Repeatable: Yes

Operating System: W2000

DB used: HCDB-070524

Scenario used: HDSL-9_modified

Long Description: By having a target within the graphical weapon range circle it is not possible to launch every time the weapon, because the graphical weapon range circle does not correlate precise with the weapon range (vaild for AAM's, AGM's)

Expected behaviour: When the target is within the graphical weapon range circle it shall be possible to launch the weapon.

Observed behaviour: It is not possible to launch the weapon because the target is still out of weapon range.

I'm kind of going to agree on this. We'll get the range circles closer to the true value but it will still be off a bit due to map distortion North to South (and I don't want to start drawing irregular curved shapes as range circles, ellipses are the sweet spot). The second thing is that the circles are an estimate of the group's capability, so if a ship is on the wrong side of the formation for a close engagement, it will still be out of range, even with more accurate range circles.

Don't forget that the rings are not meant to be absolute indicators, just an indication of the ranges possible for that group.

Thanks TonyE. :)

They are now acceptable ellipse and show for AC the right range. I guess the origin of the ellipse is the cylinder projection of the earth\map. To solve this, a huge effort must be done to implement a point-normal projection of the center from the current group window (as in GoogleEarth?).
