May 20, 201115 yr If anyone should get the F-22 (and I think a number of countries should, Canuckistan included), Japan shouldrecord> I mean come on, let's share the spiral development cost burden of the F-22, bring the unit cost down, and keep the line open for WHEN the USA NEEDS to buy more of them.
May 20, 201115 yr Author Can't disagree with that, and I venture to say that, if current trends continue, the F-35A might be nearly as expensive as a production run F-22A.
May 21, 201115 yr Can't disagree with that, and I venture to say that, if current trends continue, the F-35A might be nearly as expensive as a production run F-22A. There might well be a case for cancelling the F-35A, IMHO. Not the B and C variants though.
May 21, 201115 yr Author There might well be a case for cancelling the F-35A, IMHO. Not the B and C variants though. The F-35A is arguably the least complex and least risky of the three variants. The F-35B is, at the same time, arguably the least necessary of the three and also the variant still on 'probation'.
